I told the Violet Grey online customer service rep that I wasn't going to leave a review but I changed my mind. I got an apology from the online customer service rep but she wasn't able to do anything to help the situation (she told me the store was separate from online and there wasn't anything she could do to help me). She also didn't make an effort to keep me as a client (offer product or a discount for future). I know they give out product goody packages to celebs and other people important enough to the brand (something that doesn't make me want to spend money on stuff if you think other people are more important and deserve it for free). This review is of my experience with the Violet Grey boutique on Melrose Place. The 2 stars is for Ashley who is lovely. Allison, Nile and everyone else working in the boutique are not. I've been a fairly regular client in the store and online since the beginning. I really like the idea of Violet Grey and am less enthused with the execution. The store has the worst vibe, really snotty, and last year Nile was intentionally mean and rude to me. I decided to just not deal with her when shopping and continued to stop in from time to time and purchase items. At the end of July I purchased a new eye cream which I had an allergic reaction to. I brought the product back to the store a few days ago and Allison agreed to take it back and literally said " do you want this back on your card?" and I told her store credit was fine, thinking I would just find an item online that I would like to have instead. Well, the product I had in mind wasn't available through the site so I called Allison at the boutique two hours after I left and asked her for the refund to go back on my credit card ( an option she gave me). Here's where it gets really horrible, not only did Allison flat out deny ever asking me if I would like the refund to my card, she also responded to me in an overly rude and short way via email. Multiple times she denied words I heard clearly coming out of her mouth. A simple I'm sorry I misspoke would have really appreciated instead of her lying and trying to gaslit me. I know when I was in the store she was in the middle of meeting with a potential new product line so maybe she was distracted and just trying to rush things along but I clearly heard her offer me the option of refunding my credit card. After multiple traumatizing emails of her lying and denying I decided to just move on and use the store credit and never do business with the company again. I went to the store today to use the credit and the girls in the back ignored me and made me wait until Ashley could help me. She was great but the atmosphere felt really toxic and mean spirited. I had asked not to interact with Allison or Nile but there was another dark haired woman who came out from the back who could have helped me and didn't. I think a little professionalism from the other employees would have been appropriate. In my experience most of the women working there aren't happy to be there and take it out on their customers. I hope that corporate makes some changes to their retail...

Read morehave visited this store on multiple occasions and I can honestly say that each time has been a bad experience.
I have made several purchases here and the tall brunette woman is the absolute worst- she is rude, snobby and her aura/vibe is so unsettling.I can not pin point what it is but I know there is something very dark about her energy and it definitely shows. So many times have I asked for a certain color or product and its always "sold out".. i'm left with no remedy! I work in luxury retail and I can't imagine having a customer just leave empty handed or without some sort of lead. My friend asked her if she has tried a specific product and she snobbily responded, "well yeah I have tried everything..."
shes just the worst!!! Sucks because I love the store!! so beautiful, love the curated selection but every time I walk in there, I have to brace myself just in case I see her. A few times I have seen a male associate there and they have been much easier...
