I stopped in Hayek's a couple of years ago following a long history of trying to find a rocking chair for my husband who would go through rocking/recliner/glider/lounge chairs every few years. Although he rocks gently, he rocks all the time, and the springs, bolts, mechanisms broke with some regularity. We were lucky to get 6 months before the first break appeared, and sometimes it happened in as few as 3. The most recent had been a disaster of a chair (at $1800!!!) that was so destroyed--springs, mechanisms, so-called leather upholstery coming apart at the seams--after 3 years we took it to the dump. I went into Hayek's on a whim and talked with Jamal about our problems. He was very concerned, but showed me a very attractive chair. After hearing my tale of woe, and my concern about how long the mechanism would last, he offered me two free spare mechanisms if I bought the chair! He had me there. We took the chair home and it lasted a full (unheard of ) year before the mechanism broke. We replaced it and it lasted another year, and then broke. Once more we were able to replace it with the mechanism Jamal had given us. We were happy to be getting a year, so I went by Hayek's, talked to Jamal again, and asked if I could order another one so we'd have a spare when it went out again--which we don't expect to have happen for months. Not only did he get me a spare, but he refused to charge me for it! Hayek's has my vote as one of the best furniture stores around, not only with quality products, but also a concerned owner who cares that his customers are treated well. We will be back. So thrilled! After searching online for months to find a full grain leather couch I finally found this store. The internet didn't lead me to believe anyone made full grain leather couches anymore, but low and behind there was loads of customizable options at Hayek's! Jamal invited me to try out anything and everything and let me wander around undisturbed. Once I had narrowed it down he discussed all the customizable parts if the couches I was looking at and what recliners I could get to match. I did not feel any pressure to buy right away. I was informed that the couches would take 7 weeks to be made by the manufacturer and that they would call us when the couches were coming in so we could make sure we're were ready for them. The ended up getting made in 3 weeks and they delivered on a day that gave us plenty of time to make room for them. The delivery men were very careful with all of our property and remained professional despite having to move around heavy furniture on a hot, sunny day. Shopping at Hayek's is very individualized. The shopper can choose size, shape, leather color and grade. Or, she can pick a sofa or chair from the ones on the floor. We chose to have our couch made with all three seats reclining and once it came, my husband claimed a permanent spot. He loves it!! (I do, too). The remarkable thing about Hayek is the customer service. Even after your furniture is in your home, Jamal will honor his warranty with quick service.
