Where do I start! I decided a couple of months ago to propose to my girlfriend. I did some research looking for a highly-rated, local jeweler and found Goodman's. I sent them a message to get the ball rolling and included a note saying that I work a 9-5 job and wouldn't be able to come in on the weekends either. John kindly agreed to stay open late on multiple occasions so I could come in to work with him. On my first visit, we looked through many engagement rings, but none felt quite right. That's when John told me that we could design one ourselves. We got to work and he spent almost 3 hours with me after hours on that first day.
John worked on the design a bit over the next couple of weeks, and I went back to review the changes and pick a diamond. He had done a great job listening to me and translating what was in my mind's eye to the CAD drawing. I picked a diamond and told John that I was hoping to have the ring by the end of August, when my girlfriend and I were going on a trip to see several national parks in Utah. He agreed to rush the job so I could get it in time. Some time passed, I hadn't heard much from John or his team, and our trip was getting close, so I gave him a call. I was concerned that the ring wouldn't be done in time to pack. They agreed to help me find an inexpensive placeholder ring for the trip, but it ultimately didn't matter. The setting was delivered to Goodman's three days before our trip and the staff there got the diamond set by the next day. I was able to pick it up and pack it on our trip to Utah, where I proposed to my now fiance!
Unfortunately, the ring was a bit big, so it would need to be resized. We went back to Goodman's (the staff was very excited to hear the engagement story and see our pictures) and dropped off the ring to be resized. John helped my fiance determine the right size and told us that the ring would be ready in the week, but he was wrong! He called me the morning after we dropped it off to tell me it was ready to be picked up! So we went in to get it and it fit perfectly and looked amazing!
To top it all off, I just received a card from John thanking me for the opportunity to work on the ring. They're amazing over at Goodman's Jewelers. I'd recommend them to anyone and we will absolutely be returning very soon (for wedding bands) without a...
Read moreSometimes you’re riding the biggest wave and it crashes. My seven year engagement came to a shocking and abrupt end, I hadn’t broken my commitment, so here I had these two wedding rings, two gold bands, what was I to do? I pictured my ring, the far larger of the two, becoming a base, and the smaller ring becoming an overlay, representing the ups and downs or waves of this journey. In the end I conceived of a ring to represent my growing, ever expanding capacity to love, be faithful and grow in commitment, while my former partners ring represents the instability of life, the ups and downs and waves thrown at us. Kristin was an absolute guiding light to work with through a challenging life transition. Jeremy, the Goldsmith, was the right man for this job. Both rose to the challenge and met me with an emotional maturity and a professional sophistication needed at this moment. There is no other jeweler that could pull this off emotionally and...
Read moreI called the Goodman's Jewelers to ask if they replaced batteries in Tissot watches. I specified that it was waterproof, so it requires a special key, and was told they could complete the battery replacement. I dropped that watch off, along with another one, over a week ago. Just received a call from them saying the other watch is done. It was not until I inquired about the Tissot watch that I was told "we can't do that one. I recommend you take it to a Tissot dealer." The manager, who I asked to speak with, then told me, "I wasn't able to look at it until 10 minutes ago." I asked him why, when I called and mentioned it was waterproof and required a special key, then mentioned it again when it dropped it off, I was told twice they could complete the replacement, just to have the watch sit there for an entire week before being told they cannot do that work. He didn't seem to have an answer. The customer service is...
