If the Four Seasons Resort Maui at Wailea is your normal Maui resort choice, then the Kihei Kai Nani may fall short of your expectations. If, however you desire a value-priced and clean one-bedroom condo, then this is your place. First of all, this condo was not even on my radar when we booked for Maui. We stayed up the street in a two-bedroom condo for a lot more money. We had just checked out when the road to Kahului was closed due to an enormous wild fire. North Kihei was evacuated and local employees could not get home. It is pointless to say, it was a bit of mayhem for a few hours as trapped tourists and locals were looking for a play to stay the night. Two emergency shelters were opened and they began filling up. I quickly booked an unnamed unit on Hotels.com which was supposedly located at the Kai Nani. When I arrived at the front desk, I was told that they don’t hold reservation information and access should have been emailed to me (let’s just say that guy did not get a good review). After a furious ten minutes of phone calling, I realized that my wife and children may be sleeping in the rental car for the night. Then like a ray of sunshine a housekeeper was walking out of unit 119 right next to the office. My wife chased her down and asked if 119 was vacate. She called Brooke with Kihei Kai Nani Rentals and let me talk to her on her phone. Even though it was after hours, Brooke booked us into the unit for two nights to ride out the storm (or in this case fire). Brooke could have overcharged us given how crazy the housing was at the moment, or she could have just said sorry we are closed. Even if this unit had been bad, I would have been so thankful to her for her help. As it was this is a great unit. The kitchen has every tool you may need to cook with as well as a second small fridge for drinks. The roll-away couch was perfect for the kids and the queen bed in the bedroom was very comfortable. The A/C kept the front room nice a cool during the day and the t/v had plenty of options to entertain the kids during the evenings. The pool is only 12 steps from the lanai but sheltered by plantings for privacy. The pool was huge, clean and had great bungalows to get out of the sun. If you need a one-bedroom unit in a location that is convenient to walk to the beach across the street, restaurants next door and shops on the other side, look no further than the Kai Nani. If you need the best service the islands can offer look no further then Brooke and Kihei Kai...
Read moreAvoid Unit 147 - Our Holiday Ruined by Sewage Leak and Unresponsive Owner
We stayed in unit 147 over the holidays and experienced a nightmare scenario. On December 23rd, we discovered a sewage leak coming from under the bathroom vanity. Despite immediately notifying the property manager and owner (Ally), we spent the entire day dealing with the leak, cleaning up raw sewage, and coordinating with emergency crews. The leak, which originated from the units above, had caused significant damage and created a truly unsanitary environment, especially with our two young children present.
To our dismay, the owner was unresponsive and unhelpful in finding alternative accommodations. We eventually had to locate another unit ourselves and move all our belongings and exhausted children at 10 PM. The replacement unit was far inferior to what we had originally booked and paid for.
Upon returning home, we received a dismissive offer for compensation from the owner, who claimed that our holiday wasn't significantly disrupted. This added insult to injury and left us feeling deeply disappointed and frustrated.
We strongly advise against staying in unit 147 until the owner takes responsibility for the unsanitary conditions and provides adequate compensation for the ruined holiday. We urge potential guests to consider alternative accommodations to avoid a similar...
Read moreEdit rating. Condo has nothing to do with Everett Ferreira’s greed.
Preemptively posting this review because I am absolutely DISGUSTED with the way Everett Ferreira has handled our upcoming reservation. Due to the recent devastation on Maui, we decided we wanted to cancel our reservation. Personally, I found it disrespectful to continue with plans knowing that us being there would take away from the resources that, rightfully, should be going to those who have lost family, homes, and businesses. Those who have to REBUILD their LIVES after LOSING everything. Apparently, Mr. Ferreira thinks that Hawai’i only thrives on tourism and can’t cancel our reservation because of it. “If there is no tourism, there is no money flowing in to support Hawai’i’s economy.” As someone born and raised in Hawai’i, I’ve only heard that sentiment from greedy people out for money. He refused to cancel our reservation so he could make a couple dollars. This is just my observation from dealing with this disgusting trash bag but I’m going to bet my next paycheck that he hasn’t donated a single penny to the Maui relief efforts. I’ll be posting this same review on AirBnB when I can....
