Finding an acupuncturist while on vacation in Maui can be nerve racking as you never know what you'll get but I decided to try 808 Wellness as their list of services was extensive. I just arrived in Maui and feeling like a cold was coming on. I really don't want to start my vacation by getting sick so I was looking for an Acupucncturist who can also can integrate traditional Chinese methods like cupping to help relieve my cold symptoms. So I decided to make an appointment and hope for the best. And after making the appointment, I found out they just moved to new office space in Rainbow Mall which is just two doors down from where I'm staying in Kihei. Totally convient for me.

Meeting Alan Schroepfer was a godsend. He was very professional, listened well, attentive to my needs and has a calming effect throughout my whole visit. He reviewed my information, talked through what I wanted and what he recommended, then started the acupuncture treatment. I've been to many acupuncturist in the past but Alan was the most gentle of them all. I didn't feel the needles even going in. I had to ask why his needles goes in without the normal pinch or pricking feeling. Alan tries to find ways to ensure his patients are relaxed and comfortable at all times. After he finished putting the needles and cups, he handed me a little device to click on if I needed anything while he is out of the room. That was a pleasant surprise as none of my past acupuncturist ever left me with a way to call them back if I needed something. I loved the idea being able to call for help if I was uncomfortable or needed a itch to be scratched. It really shows Alan has put a lot of thoughtfulness in the wellbeing and comfort of his patients from the moment they arrive until the treatment is complete.

By the end of the visit, I made one more acupuncture appointment with an additional CranioSacral therapy session with Alan and also a 90 min massage therapy with his wife Sara. Odysseus did not listen to me when I told him what was bothering me. He spent the whole 90 minutes on my back and nothing else when I specifically indicated that part of my issue was my neck and my SI joint so he needed to get my legs. He spent most of the time, focusing on how hard he was pushing rather than actually massaging. His idea of a deep tissue massage was just to do pressure points. For example, that meant only using his arm and digging in and staying in one spot but not actually moving. I am 34 and have had weekly massages since I was 14 this was by far the most expensive and least effective massage I have had. I told the receptionist that he needed to go back for more training and that I was not satisfied and there was zero attempt to make things right or even ask how the situation could be rectified. I chose this place due to the five star rating on Google maps . But you can be for sure that I will be writing a review because people need to know the truth. My expectations were not even close to being met for the price that I paid. In fact, I spent the 90 minutes wondering where he was on class rank in his massage school in crested Butte and wondering if you would get upset if I stopped the massage and taught him how to do his job correctly. Local resident here. Just had the BEST MASSAGE EVER at 808 Wellness. I have tried just about every massage place on Maui looking for relief from back pain. While many are good, none have compared to the amazing experience I had at 808 Wellness.

First of all, their booking process is streamlined and easy. I really appreciated the kind customer service and willingness to answer all my questions when I called to book. They also sent an email reminder of my appointment with an easy link to add to my calendar.

When I arrived for my appointment, I was greeted by one of the owners and offered water. I filled out some brief paperwork in their relaxing waiting area and my therapist was promptly ready for me.

I was so impressed by the professionalism and expert knowledge of my masseuse. She quickly got to the root of my back pain, which was actually in a completely different part of my body. She explained what she was doing and what muscles she was working on. She also gave me some tips on how to help prevent the pain from coming back.

As I was leaving, Sara (one of the owners) took the time to personally thank me for coming in. I will definitely be back and I highly recommend 808 Wellness to anyone looking for the BEST...
