This review is unemotional in nature.
I came in to sell a piece of niche jewelry, I am aware its niche and did due diligence calling and sending photos before driving out and spending time going to any jewelers to sell the piece.
I will give concession that it is a VERY busy time of year, and it is difficult to do business through photos alone.
We confirmed (again through photos) that they did have an interest in purchase so I made my way to McKinney, navigated through road closure and lack of parking to reach the business (very busy time of year). They ended up not purchasing the item which is 100% in their right but the financial burden falls all onto me.
My hope for the review is for the business to update its practices and to be more professional as opposed to amateur.
We ended our business with a hand shake and a “fair enough” but I cannot get back the two hours spent travel to and from the business or the gas that was burnt to take me there, that is the burden I carry because of miscommunication on the business...
Read moreI went to Barron’s because I had two good quality antique pieces I’d been considering selling. One was my mom’s engagement solitaire and another was a retirement piece given to my grandfather. Both pieces held sentimental value to me but I never wore them, and time had come to sell them. Barrron’s was very fair and transparent in their evaluation and price, and I felt comfortable selling these pieces to them. They explained the cut, the color and clarity according to the scale used to quantify and qualify diamonds. They’ll sell them as is and that’s cool to me. They gave me a fair price. Previous to visiting them today, I took both pieces to Dallas Diamonds and they offered me 1/3 of what Barron’s paid. They didn’t provide the clarity and were off on the karat size. I’m glad I waited. Barron’s is a very unique store and definitely worth a visit whether or not you have something to sell. They have...
Read moreTHIS SHOP IS AMAZING!! It's not even fair to just call it a shop. Let's say: estate jeweler, jewelery services, appraisals, collectible coins, and a nearly infinite collection (for sale) of small antique treasures!! I went in to ask about a few of my grandmother's pieces and appraisals on some other few things. I was amazed. Like, really. You can't imagine. Be sure to look for the antique hat room, Bonnie and Clyde wanted poster, record collection, and you won't even be able to look at all the antique jewelry in one visit. If you're downtown on the square, and are just window shopping, GO IN!! You won't be sorry. Despite having a billion things in the store, it's very very clean and cleverly displayed. The gentlemen helping were warm and friendly and enthusiastic about their collections. I will...
