I entered the store and went to where the product I was looking for normally and it was moved. One of the associates saw me looking around and asked if he could help me find something and I asked where the boxers were. He told me they were in the back with the clearance items. Luckily I had been to the store before and knew where that was, however he didn't know that. I even mentioned it to him later that a high class establishment like DXL I would expect the associate to not just 'point' but to take me to where I am trying to get. He told me that I looked like I knew where I was going and that he would take that into account because they pride themselves on great customer service. That's a minor point. The main problem I have is there was no in store coupon to use. Like I've been shopping here for years and it's always been a case of there ALWAYS being a coupon available in store. Usually 10 15 or 20 percent or 10 15 20 dollars depending on how much you spend. I was told that everyone gets their own discounts and I have to bring it in with me. I understand the game, you raise prices so you can 'give people discounts' and make them feel special. They told me I could get a discount from a mailer.... or an email.... or whatever. I get it you're trying to find out how you're attracting business, but when you have someone that has been coming for a long time, then give them the damn discount without playing the game. I was even told.... you'll get the discount on the next sale.... like.... really? Well the bad news is, I walked out without buying anything because I knew I would be able to get a discount online. I guess we don't mind if the brick and mortar stores go away shrug. Very...
Read moreThis was my first trip to DXL, and I am really angry at myself for not coming sooner. Shopping for clothes as a bigger guy is always a tremendous pain, especially if you actually want clothes that are well-made and look good. DXL was a breath of fresh air.
Firstly, I was greeted by an attendant the moment I walked in the door. And not in that "we've got our eye on you" or "hurry up and give us your money" tone that I am used to. It was warm, friendly, and respectful, and immediately made me feel welcome.
After checking to make sure the people that he was currently serving were alright for a few minutes (a nice touch; I always hate it when people drop me just because someone else walked in, and I would have hated to have caused someone else to feel like that), the attendant walked over, shook my hand, and asked how he could help me.
From there, the shopping experience just got better as he quickly and efficiently took my measurements and then seamlessly guided me around the store to show me different options based on my direction. In no time, I had several full new outfits that I was very happy with.
I'm not going to lie. For someone used to doing his clothes shopping at Walmart, DXL is shockingly pricey. But you get what you pay for, and the clothes I got here are well worth the price tag in terms of quality and fit, and when one adds in the excellent customer service, well...
Read moreI don't have much of a wardrobe and I wasn't well informed going into the store. Thankfully, Christopher was there to offer me guidance in selecting an outfit that fit me fairly well and looked the way I wanted it to. I'm 6'1" 290lb with broad shoulders and a barrel of a torso so I've always struggled to find things that fit well right off the rack. I must have been there at least 90 minutes and several other patrons came and went and Chris would need to tend to them, but he always came right back to me with options and solutions. He had something to offer me for every question I asked. Chris was friendly, thoughtful, and charismatic and this first impression for the company will have me coming back next time I want to expand my wardrobe. I would have given DXL 5 stars but they no longer offer tailoring or hats. Chris did give me some other places to check for hats and I think he could help me out in...
