THIRD TIME’S A CHARM - Frankly my fiancé and I were about to give up on this place. Our first attempt at purchasing an engagement ring was actually pleasant; we worked with a young man who seemed very conscientious and professional in his interaction, and we were so excited about all the items we chose! He was to send us some diamond options via email meeting our criteria and we would subsequently place the order. Well, the email follow up never came and after repeated follow up emails, calls to cell and retail location, we finally learned this gentleman was no longer employed here and no one had bothered to answer our messages in the store inbox. On our second attempt at visiting the store we asked for the manager and recounted our dilema. I can say she is the most surly, un engaging and flat out rude person I’ve ever encountered in a retail location, let alone a jewelry store wherein people are shopping for engagement/wedding rings. We also learned that none of our previous details had been saved and we needed to start all over. So we did and went home to await diamond options via email. [Spoiler alert- no email arrived]. At this point we were gathering referrals for other jewelers when we decided to go into the store one last time… We walked into the store and were greeted warmly by Alexandra!! We recounted briefly our prior dilema and that we really just wanted to purchase the ring we had designed twice before but needed help picking the diamond. She offered us a seat, brought us water and sat down to explain everything (and answer all our questions) without rushing! She walked us through the usual cut, color, clarity, carat, but more importantly the ratios of the shape and size we wanted in order to accomplish the look we were going for. This was the missing piece!! At the end of this story I got the most beautiful engagement ring (complete with tons of compliments from everyone!) but more importantly we truly are happy thanks to Alexandra. SCAM BEWARE! I am extremely disappointed and feel mislead with the upgrade Program & Poor Customer Service
We purchased multiple pieces of jewelry from blue nile including my engagement ring and wedding bands. Naturally, I expected the same level of service and integrity when I inquired about upgrading my original ring I purchased from them based on their policy that they pride themselves on its a complete scam! First the assistant manager promised me a ring but days later found out it was "unavailable" after wasting time and money. My recent experience has been incredibly disappointing and frustrating from beginning to end.
Blue Nile promotes a "Diamond Upgrade Program", but what they don't make clear is that the criteria are so narrow and arbitrary that it's essentially a fake promise. Despite buying everything from them — and choosing a certified diamond they claimed would be eligible — I was told I couldn’t upgrade. No clear explanation, just a series of vague, unhelpful responses that made it feel like a complete bait-and-switch. We asked for their inspection report see photo email correspondence.
To make matters worse, customer service was anything but helpful. I was bounced around between staff who either gave me inconsistent information or clearly didn’t care. There was no effort to retain me as a customer, and certainly no accountability for the misleading information they provide on their marketing.
If you’re considering Blue Nile for an engagement ring or long-term investment in jewelry, I’d strongly advise looking elsewhere. if you plan to upgrade or need any real customer support down the line, you’ll be left disappointed and without options.
