First problem was finding the unit. It’s sad everywhere 2007 and fine print but actually finding a building at that address that said 2007 was impossible. We spent a good hour trying to drive around and find out where our unit was. It was 5 AM so there was no one to contact. Thankfully, we ran into a neighbor and she helped lead us in the right direction. So it was building 20 door 07. Now why don’t they say that in writing?! After a 13 Hour drive and the instructions were misleading, I was very upset. Then our next problem became the Wi-Fi. I called and called about not having Wi-Fi for three days and finally the manager calls me back and tries to figure it out. She did try to come over and figure out herself with no luck. So we waited at least another day without Internet . Altogether four days without Wi-Fi. I had brought my laptop so I could get some work done and I had two small children who have Wi-Fi only phones to play their games on and they were miserable without it and they also didn’t have a TV working in their bedroom because of the Wi-Fi. so other than outdoor activities, my kids had no Wi-Fi on a TV or any devices for four days. Oh my gosh, I forgot the second worst thing that happened in that unit. So the first day we were there we had some problems with one of the bathrooms. It was leaking onto the floor, below us. So I received a phone call saying not to take a bath and use the other bathroom that had a shower only. Then the next day maintenance comes and says that there’s water leaking below us again so I guess they called a plumber and I was in one of the back bedroom,my kids were in their bedroom and my husband and my two dogs were outside. It was a little early in the morning and all of a sudden I hear a man’s Voice saying hello hello. I walk out to the living room and there’s a man standing in my living room holding the remote and I was beyond startled. I was half naked and really upset about the situation. He said he knocked, but maybe the “TVs were too loud.” Either way in an incident like that he should’ve called management and had someone try to reach out to me, or they should’ve called me beforehand to let me know that someone was coming or he could’ve just waited a few more minutes or he could’ve cracked the door open and yelled, instead of walking all the way inside of the unit. They reached out to me and called me about the water leak and about maintenance coming sometime that day, but no warning about the plumber. And my opinion with the TV is being too loud I would assume that someone was inside. Now, if it was quiet, and you didn’t hear anything, then peek your head inside and yell. But to just walk in completely is beyond my Comprehension. The place was great, it was clean and had all of the amenities that we needed. It was super close to all of the beaches and food and activities. I also think they could’ve warned us or gave better instructions on the different beaches and where they were and what was what. Because we had one hell of a time figuring out which beach was Henderson or crystal beach and what they offered such as dog friendly or was it a far walk or paid parking ? All the places in Florida I’ve never had so many complications trying to step onto an actual beach. All the beaches I’ve ever been to you just drive up onto and pay to park. But not these beaches. I think 90% of the beaches The properties are private and not for the public. Looking things up on Google became tireless. Lastly, I did reach out to the property manager about maybe offering us some complementary something for not having Wi-Fi for four days and I never received a response back. She messaged me the day we left and was concerned about whether we were gone or not. So I know she seen my message about, offering us something for the technical difficulties. I did voice my concerns the first three daysAnd no one reached out to me to apologize or try to make up for anything. And I was just asking for, something for just the Wi-Fi not even the plumber incident or the hour looking...
Read moreIF YOU LIKE MICE AND GIANT ROACHES AND NO AIR CONDITIONING, then the Oak and Ocean is for you! Salt Water Vacations will not help you! I hate having to post a review like this and I never do however I think people should know my experience before thinking about staying at the Oak and Ocean or even booking with “Salt Water Vacations”. We rarely go on vacation so we were really looking forward to our stay. The house looks very nice in the photos for sure. The first thing you should know is that if you have any problem with the rental unit you are staying in, “Salt Water Vacations” will not care or respond. You will have to deal with the rental unit owner (which I have not been able to) or the property manager. “Salt Water Vacations” will gladly book your stay and take your money but you are on your own from there. The house we stayed at (Oak & Ocean) had almost no Air Conditioning! The property manager (Keri) informed me that she knew there would be a problem with the AC. We had to have 2 AC companies and maintenance come in and waste 3 days of our vacation days even though the AC never got fixed! I did not want anyone coming into the house when I wasn’t there but she told me that they will come in anyway because it’s in my contract. We booked a house so we would have some privacy and not have anyone come in when we were not there. One person came at 9:00 PM and we had to wait around and miss dinner since all the restaurants were closed. The AC person told us the owners knew it wasn’t working right and knew that they needed a new system. I’m still not really sure why he had to come that night and make us miss our dinner since he said he already knew there was nothing he can do. Maintenance came in another day and rigged up 2 portable AC units that never got the house less than 76 degrees. And we were very uncomfortable with the safety. They were rigged by venting them through 2 windows that had to be sealed with cardboard! We were more than “inconvenienced”. We lost a few days of our vacation! Every night was extremely hot and uncomfortable and we never felt safe with 2 cardboard windows. That was the air conditioning issue. The Mice and Roach issue was another…
The house was infested with giant roaches! I understand this is a house in Florida by the water. I would expect there to be some bugs. But this house was infested with giant roaches that my wife and son lost sleep over. There was one on my son’s bed, there was one right near my hand when I was making coffee. They were very hard to kill and most of them got away. And did I mention they were huge?! I tried to make the best of it but my wife and son were freaked out the entire time. The kitchen pots and pans had mouse droppings in them so we can only assume there was a rodent issue as well. We tried to make the best of our stay. We don’t go on many vacations. I was not even going to post a review. I thought for sure this company would do the right thing and give us some sort of refund. I sent an email to “Salt Water Vacations”. (There is only one main email address) After no response I tried to find anyone directly who works for Salt Water Vacations to at least forward my email to the right person. I was finally able to find one person’s direct email who responded and said she will send it to the right people. About a week later I got a response from Keri, the same property manager I was dealing with when we were there. All she said was “They have decided to give us a one night stay there in the future”. No refund or partial refund! I would not bring my family to this rodent and roach infested house again if they paid me to! I think what I am most shocked about is first how the owners of the house do not care and more importantly how the company “Salt Water Vacations” completely does not care. I would never book with “Salt Water Vacations” again and my advice would be to never stay at the Oak & Ocean. Just know that even if you stay in a different unit, if you have any problems at all “Salt Water Vacations” will...
Read moreI would like to start off by mentioning that this review has NOTHING to do with the condo or resort. This review is solely based on Salt Water Vacay’s sincere lack of concern towards its customers, who were essentially stranded, most of us miles from home, in the middle of the night. The Inn at Crystal Beach has always been a sentimental place as I grew up taking vacations there with my family as a child. I was excited to bring my children here now as an adult. We were guests at the Inn on Tuesday July 29 when unfortunately there was a fire event. We sat out on the curb for 2 hours waiting for updates on what was happening - and were finally checked into a hotel off the beach just before 2am. Of course - not because they offered to help but because my husband had to call around to find a hotel with accommodations. While the event causing us to relocate was certainly out of Salt Water’s control - their reaction and response to the event was certainly not. We were essentially told nothing but “we don’t know when it will be fixed,” followed up with a “come get your food out of the fridge because you can’t stay here due to the power outage,” followed again by a “we’d like to reiterate no one can stay on property.” Not ONCE was it offered to help find accommodations for the rest of the week. We were 850 miles away from our home, with NO accommodations. The next day someone asked the lady working the front desk if they were helping place people because of the incident and she flat out didn’t know. AKA - no, they were not helping do ANYTHING. Additionally when we tried to call no one would answer the phone. So I reached out on the chat and had to wait for almost an hour for some one to tell me “the power is still out” - when I was clearly looking for help on accommodations for the rest of the week. I hope they are not the only way to rent at The Inn because I will never book a vacation through this group again and if you are an owner and they are responsible for renting your property I would reconsider based on how they treat their guests. The lack of customer service is atrocious - every interaction was as if this was...
