The ONLY reason I’m even giving one star is because that’s the lowest you can go. I LOVE Another Broken Egg and for years it has been my favorite brunch spot over anywhere. When we came on our vacation to Destin and saw that one opened up in Destin Commons, we were so excited and had to go. I will start off by saying shame on them. I am a fellow server in the food industry and for that reason am always very understanding and easy going when it comes to having less than par service at a restaurant, because I understand that things happen. Today changed that, because it was not only the worst service I’ve ever had at this chain but the worst experience I’ve ever had eating ANYWHERE. We still to this moment do not know who our actual server was. We were “waited on” by 4 or 5 different people all saying they weren’t our waitress but were helping out, but they honestly didn’t help out at all. I’d make exceptions if we were notified more of the situation or if they were completely packed out, but neither of those were the case. After we sat down initially we weren’t greeted with drink orders for 20 minutes, and our drinks didn’t even come for another 10 minutes after that, by yet another woman. Then also twenty minutes from that time, ANOTHER woman came and took our food order, and then we waited another 45 minutes before we heard from anyone else or even got our food. No refills, not even a glance from another server, for that long. When our food FINALLY came out by yep, you guessed it, ANOTHER woman we then asked for refills and for some salt, and never received any. Finally the manager was walking by and I stopped him to tell him about our experience so far and everything that has happened, for which he gave a $7 discount. Only $7. BUT, might I add that he wasn’t even the one that brought out our check with the discount, it was ANOTHER WOMAN, and the manager never even came back by our table to speak with us again or apologize. Finally we just decided to say screw it and pay the bill so we could hurry and just leave. But of course as the saying goes, when it rains it pours; because just when we thought it couldn’t get any worse, I look on the side of my French toast to cut another bite, and there is a curly black hair sitting on the side of the toast. I have a picture on my phone of the hair and a video, which I will provide below. Keep in mind, I have long platinum blonde hair and my boyfriend’s hair is straight and light brown. At that point I was so over this whole experience and had already paid, so we just left it without saying anything. Sorry this is lengthy, but I feel like this needs to be seen by management of this place, especially since I could’ve gotten him back out there to complain about the hair but I didn’t. With all of this being said, I know all restaurants are different, so I will definitely still be visiting Another Broken Egg again, but will NEVER again come to this one in Destin Commons. We will find other store locations instead from here on out. The thing that really upset me the most was how gracious, patient, and kind we were STILL in the middle of this whole experience, knowing that we could’ve been a lot more ugly to get our point across and get what we want but instead we weren’t, ESPECIALLY not even saying anything about the hair, which would’ve been a game changer even if we had great service. I’m just so...
Read moreMy meal was nothing worth writing home about, but certainly worth leaving a review only because it didn’t meet my expectations.
I ordered the “Traditional Sampler”, a simple and easy meal w/ potatoes an English muffin and chicken sausage, also added a side of two (2) plain pancakes.
I like to order meals that aren’t over complicated as I believe it’s hard to mess up something like toasting an English muffin, yet here we are.
The “bad”: The English muffin was barely toasted, if at all. Literally tasted like it was put on my plate straight from the package or it went into the toaster and the toaster wasn’t plugged in (lol).
Pancakes were literally frisbee firm and had zero cake like consistency. The syrup couldn’t even soak into the pancakes, also the syrup was straight from the packaging bottle cold.
The “ok”: over easy eggs tasted like eggs.
The better parts: The chicken sausage was flavorful and at this point in the meal, surprisingly cooked well and the potatoes were good and the only part of the meal that I liked.
Overall, I highly suggest getting something from here that you wouldn’t/couldn’t make at home. At least you’ll maybe get more effort put into it and enjoy the meal.
After this meal here, I’m under the impression that if you order a “basic” meal, you’ll be lucky to get basic results.
I sat at the bar and had good service. The bartender was attentive, personable and friendly.
Lastly, I came here around 07:15, so maybe the cooking staff hadn’t woken up fully and they get rolling as the morning goes. But in my opinion, no matter what time you open and or close, all meals should be the same quality throughout.
If I came here again, it most certainly wouldn’t be for the Traditional Sampler or the...
Read moreI did the wait list option om the Google listing. For one person it said 30-45 minutes. I went shopping around the corner before I arrived but I did come in before the 30 minute minimum. I was told I could stand by the wall in the corner of the bar to wait for a table. I'm standing next to TWO 2 top tables and have looked at them for at least 15 minutes while waiting and no one has offered me on of them. I asked the hostess if I could have one being a party of one and she said give her a second. This place is NOT that busy or packed, tables empty everywhere but several groups of 3 and 4 and 2 waiting for tables. It's been 40 minutes of my estimated 30-45 minute wait and I'm still standing here looking at 8 empty tables in the restaurant. I am going to ask the hostess one more time before leaving. This was a terrible experience so far for my last day of vacation, I just wanted a good breakfast before I drove 12+ hours to TX. Manager Rebecca came to apologize and explain to me the kitchen is backed up. She politely gave what I call "excuses" then just kept saying if she could seat me I would be able to order. I have fully ran restaurants by myself before. People should not be standing for that long with no tsble or food. I know how this would end if I take a seat and order, 1 hour later I'll be disappointed and paying for...
