(EDIT) My fiancée and I were disappointed with the communication and customer service following confusion with the GIA certificate not matching the diamond I purchased as well as resizing.
First, I did not receive a GIA certificate with my purchase. As a first time diamond buyer and a young adult, I was unaware of this aspect. So I left the shop thinking I had everything I needed.
After proposing, my fiancée asked for the certificate to look it up, but we did not have one. So, I called, and the shop mailed me a certificate in a prompt time. When I compared it to the receipt, the 4 C's of the diamond did not match what I paid for.
That weekend we drove to Nashville to have the ring examined. We dropped it off, so they could remove the stone, resize the ring and fix the situation. Two men guaranteed me it would be ready by the next weekend, and we were confident we would be taken care of.
However, I called about the ring's status before traveling to Nashville again to pick up the ring the following week, and we were told that the ring was completed. We drove an hour and a half out of our way before a vacation to pick up the ring. On arrival, it was not completed even though I was told the day before on phone that it was finished.
As we were leaving, I was told they would call me once the ring was completed and they once again promised it would be completed by the next weekend. I never received a call and a week later I had to reach out myself to confirm that our ring was completed.
I will say that the resizing was not their fault since I guessed the size, and they eventually confirmed the diamond was the one I selected. The issue was the wrong GIA certificate was sent by mistake. However, my problem is how they went about getting to this point.
I was told the jeweler was on vacation and then got sick causing the delay. All excuses that I would have accepted as a reasonable person. I would chalk it up as just bad luck, but each time I was there, they would promise the ring would be completed by a certain time and never called to update me on any of the delays. The only time I would get any notice is if I called or if I wasted my time and gas just to be disappointed once arriving at the shop.
If I had to estimate, I spent more than 10 hours of driving to the shop about 3-4 times all for my fiancée to not have her ring for the entire month of August.
I originally gave five stars, but after this, I changed it to 2 stars. Mainly the initial interactions with Mr. Mike made me think I made the right decision with this shop. Following the experience, I can't say I feel this way. Overall, the ring is beautiful and what we wanted. However, I now worry for any future ring maintenance and how they will treat us. I would think that paying thousands of dollars would guarantee you some courtesy, but I can find better customer service and communication from pretty much any other business.
(Original review) Mr. Mike was awesome and made the engagement ring selection process very easy! He was very helpful and made my future wife a very...
Read moreMy fiancé and I shopped around a handful of diamond and jewelry places around Nashville. We were more interested in quality above anything else and had our fun encountering many many different personalities who catered to us (or at times, didn’t). I noticed that many shops tried to sell us the ring in whole, when what I really wanted was to be able to handpick the diamond and the setting. We researched different metals, setting types, sizing, and everything I could get my hands on to learn how to choose a diamond that worked for me.
Then we met with Patricia here and it clicked. She sat us down and patiently went over EVERYTHING that satisfied our curiosity. It was so refreshing that she took the time not only to help us pick out a diamond and a setting, but to educate and share what she knew about the industry, which she has a ton of experience in. (I may be misremembering, but I believe she worked with the GIA.)
I learned a lot from her during our first visit. From there, we shared what we were looking for in terms of our preference on the 5Cs (cut, clarity, color, etc.) so she could pick one out. We connected again not too long after and checked out what she found for us. I decided on a diamond and setting that day during our second visit.
Fast forward to my fiancé proposing - yay, yay, tears were shed, congratulations were made - and our engagement as we planned our wedding. I opted for a matching wedding band and OF COURSE wanted the same quality of product and service we experienced before. Since I am moving out of state, and our wedding is taking place elsewhere, I emailed Patricia put in an order so I could get the ring in before I leave this summer.
Then COVID-19 hit and slowed things down. Luckily, their store was able to remain open since they are also considered a financial institution from having inherited a pawn licensure. This made them even more accessible in light of the pandemic, all of which I was relieved to see that they’ve also taken great measures to ensure that the space was safe for visitors (it’s not a space for a large number of visitors to begin with). The nice thing about their storefront is that it’s more of an intimate one where you can sit across from the seller at tables to go over your options, not one where you have to do everything standing up at the counter.
I just picked up my wedding band today and it looks just as gorgeous as my e-ring. David, the owner, was also there. I’ve met him in passing a couple of times, one of which he assisted in submitting a change to the size of my wedding band when I wasn’t sure about how it would fit with my e-ring.
They were spot on from start to finish. Patricia is a gem, literally. She remembers everything in our conversations and picks right back up from where we last left off. I am so excited because I have a really, really shiny diamond that takes little effort to glow in any space. I love getting compliments on it, one time in a dark Lyft even (lol), so I know we made the...
Read moreTo start off, I absolutely love my ring and looking back wouldn’t change a thing because our experience with this place gave me the ring of my dreams, but nonetheless it was a bad experience.
My Fiancé paid another jewelry store today to resize my ring instead of having it done by Green Hills Diamond Brokers because we cannot trust this company after our initial experience with them. When we received the insurance appraisal, it was for a diamond of lesser quality than the one my fiancé chose for my ring. This sent us into a panic that my fiancé had proposed to me with a diamond that actually wasn’t the one he had picked out the day he bought my ring and that my ring had been made with the wrong diamond. We took my ring back to the store to see what diamond was actually in my ring. It ended up being the correct diamond, but the fact that we were in the position of questioning what diamond was in my ring was unacceptable and they had no sense of urgency about figuring this out for us—we went a week not knowing what the status of the diamond was. We also left my ring there for a week for it to be resized. They never called to let us know it was resized or to let us know what diamond was actually in it, so we had to reach out to them to confirm the status before driving an hour and a half to pick it up. They told us it was ready, so we drove there only to be greeted by staff members who told us it WASNT ready and they brushed it off as if they had done nothing wrong. Two more weeks went by and we had not heard from them, so again had to reach out to see if it was ready (it wasn’t.) After a month of not having my ring, my fiancé found the time to pick it up (after confirming over the phone it was ready and resized, he had to call them) I was unable to go with him, and when he brought it home I put my ring on only to realize it was exactly the same as before we dropped it off and they had not resized it. The other jewelry store my Fiancé visited today confirmed it was still a 5.5 and never got resized by Green Hills Diamond Brokers. A horribly unprofessional company to mix up diamonds worth thousands of dollars and to lie and tell us the ring was resized and they did not check it to confirm size before sending my fiancé home with it, and it was in their possession for almost a month. Would urge any future customers to not...
