When I read a couple of negative comments, they are so contrary to my experience and observations it makes me question the veracity of the reports. The Natatorium (lay people call it a pool enclosure) has an extremely well designed ventilation system. I was employed at an Engineering & Construction firm (including pools). There is a perforated fabric duct (go see for yourself) suspended from the ceiling that supplies vast amounts treated air. The pool is warm by medical necessity, which does require high chlorine levels. But I observed the staff taking water tests during two or three vists out a total of eight scheduled sessions. Pool goggles are a good idea if you put your head in (not necessary for the therapy I had). The post that charges that the pool is "filthy" is, based on my experience, FALSE (maybe that was true but I never saw that). The decks, showers, locker rooms are cleaned constantly. There is a also generous supply of fresh towels (no limit) for use while visiting. A large role of large disposable baggies is supplied for your wet swimsuits. There are Body Wash ( I also used it as shampoo) dispensers supplied in showers. Dayani also supplies therapy floats, paddles, resistance ankle bracelets, and much more to boost session outcomes (isolating problem areas, and targeting goals). You will need a small padlock, your swimsuit, water shoes( I used dive booties I already had), I also wore a T-shirt in the pool to hide my scars.
The staff prepares six page patient specific exercise print outs that include dozens(?) of exercises. Patients receive one-on-one instruction and are observed (also on on one) to make sure they do the exercises properly. I experienced light headedness after exiting the pool and the life guard noticed and was on me in a flash as was the therapist who had earlier been working with me. The statement below that "the life guard is usually outside the pool enclosure"'is, in my experience 180 ° false. If your eyes are sensitive to chorine, I suggest swim goggles. In eigh weeks at Dayani my recondition that result from being sedentary during and after cancer is now going in the opposite direction. Thanks Dayani Staff, and thank...
Read moreIf you need foot and ankle PT, please please stay away. My Vanderbilt doctor ordered therapy because of ongoing pain after bunion surgery and a subsequent fall. I could not get in for a month and a half. My first visit was a very rushed 20-25 minutes. I was given strengthening exercises, no stretches, and they monitored just a few reps of only some of the exercises. There was about a month wait to get in for my second visit, or if I wanted visits at the frequency my doctor ordered I could see a different therapist each visit. One of the exercises I was sent home with was toe walking, which they did not watch me do, and was excruciatingly painful. I messaged them in the portal about the pain and got no response. I learned later I was suffering from a cartilage defect which was causing the pain. I went for a couple more visits when I could get in, was assigned a different therapist both times, and they contradicted each other and my doctor. For example, I was told not to wear orthotics as my Dr advised if I wanted to improve. One therapist told me to push myself thru the pain, while another therapist told me he wouldn’t push through any pain and to be cautious. After asking for stretches in addition to strengthening, one therapist agreed to assign some in the app to try at home, but they never came through. Another therapist had told me I didn’t need stretches, only to strengthen. I followed up again and was told that I just needed to wait until my next visit to discuss stretching again. My visits were only 30-40 mins even though my insurance covers an hour. I was asked once if I was able to leave going down a flight of stairs since it was almost 5:00 and the main door was already locked , even though I was limping with ankle pain. It was a complete joke. I finally had enough, and went to MPower. MPower is amazing. My visits are 1 hour, with the same therapist, there are plenty of open spots, each visit includes massage and stretches, not just strengthening. MPower monitors you to ensure you are doing the exercises correctly and they maintain communication with your doctor. I would avoid Vanderbilt Dayani. They were making a difficult...
Read moreI wish I could write a review, but I was never able to get a call back to schedule an appointment. I called three times to attempt to schedule a bodpod or dexa scan to test bodyfat. The young lady who answers the phone could not answer any questions and each time transferred me to someone's voicemail. The first time I was told I would receive an email about how to schedule, because that was easier than scheduling on the phone. Never received it. I called back two more times and left my email address and phone number, still no response. I was highly...
