The food was great but the service was really bad. I went with a couple of my friends on Christmas Day for brunch. We arrived around 11:30 and we didn't have a reservation. The restaurant looked kinda empty with a couple of tables still dining, but we waited about 10 minutes for the table. Our waitress brought water to our table and took our drink order. This is when it gets a little weird. Couple minutes later she came back and told us they're all "booked for lunch", which made us super confused because we were there for breakfast and it wasn't even lunch time yet. So we were like "Ok... but we're having breakfast". She then took our orders and ensured us the kitchen was making our orders and they'll be out shortly. But then she came back looking worried and said that she had to take our orders again. We were being super nice and polite and gave her our orders again without asking questions. Now looking back, we should've asked her why. At this point, we were pretty frustrated because we've been waiting for 30 minutes. In addition, her attitude was bad and she never smiled at us once. We had to asked multiple times for an orange juice we had ordered. Our order finally came out after 50 minutes of waiting and one of us was missing the toast she ordered. We kindly mentioned it to her, she replied "one moment please" with a very unhappy face and walked away. We later saw that we were charged $3 for the toast that came late. Overall, it was a very bad experience dining there. But I think it was because of the bad service. The food was amazing. I definitely recommend the restaurant. Just cross your fingers that you don't get the same...
Read moreFood was spectacular, on food alone I would give this spot 5 stars. Strong recommend for the brunch specifically the waffle with duck confit, really truly special duck. The pork shoulder Benedict was also very nicely cooked and the muffin was crisp even through the last bite.
The service was a miss on this particular visit. Our server seemed to need regular reminders about things we'd ordered and we felt that they were often absent. Specifically, the slow drink service made it hard to justify the all you can drink offer. In some cases drinks could take more than 20 minutes to arrive after being ordered. Additionally, the server didn't seem to know the menu well and we had to prove certain items were available by showing them the menu online. Finally, the manager was very prompt in checking in on us which I appreciate. However, later while I still had my silverware in hand they tried to clear my plate.
I would probably not get the all you can drink offer for $25 again given the slow service. Additionally, with the exception of the bloody Mary and the mimosa the mixed drinks tasted weak/watered down so I'd avoid the Paloma, Sangria, and Brunch punch. I might now note this in some cities but in a cocktail town like New Orleans it really was noticeable.
I would go again with the hopes that our server was just having an off day. The food...
Read moreMostly excellent food, though the escargot is drowned in pistou so you can’t taste the snails at all, unlike a traditional version that would be drenched in complimenting garlic butter and parsley. The jam accompanying the pâté was cloyingly sweet eclipsing the rich savory foie, which is pretty hard to do. The scallops were phenomenal, though seared unevenly. And the skate wing in brown butter is a reason to come back alone, one of the best I’ve ever had. One of the better steak tartars in town, spicy, rich, and delicious. Bartender had a look of terror when I ordered a Pimm’s Cup, then had someone else make it, really, a supposed upscale hotel restaurant bartender doesn’t know how to make a one of the easiest of the top ten classic cocktails? Service was really spotty. Waiter spoke so softly he kept having to repeat himself, it’s a crowded noisy restaurant, project or go back to being a runner. No one cleared empty glasses unless asked after 15 minutes, happened several times. Brought out bread and butter but no plates to put it on, jeez even at a diner they give you a plate for a roll and your serving of butter. The sommelier was very attentive and helpful, really thought out wine list, very reasonable, a rarity in a hotel restaurant. Desserts were stunning, beautiful,...
