Unsanitary, painful service, and shady billing practices.
I wasn’t going to leave a review, but after noticing something shady on my receipt I was about to throw away, I had to speak up.
This salon has many techs, I wouldn’t expect consistency or real standards, so I will just talk about the person that rendered my services. The guy who did my spa pedicure (Leo) was visibly sick, coughing the entire time behind a worn KN95 mask. I appreciated that he wore one, but I doubt it helped much when he was coughing nonstop right next to me. It was gross and unsafe. He was pushy about upgrades from the start, constantly trying to upsell me even after I said no. Then he gave one of the roughest pedicures I’ve ever had. He kept cutting into live tissue while trimming my cuticles — I flinched multiple times, and he’d say “sorry” but just kept going. The callus removal was awful; he used one of those illegal metal graters and went at my feet way too aggressively. My feet ended up sore, partly raw, and still calloused in spots. To make it worse, he kept getting distracted, chatting with coworkers and looking elsewhere mid-service.
The towels smelled off, like detergent mixed with something stale, and the “massage” part lasted maybe two minutes. When he finished painting my nails, he didn’t even walk me to the drying area — he just left to take another client, leaving me sitting there awkwardly until another tech (Jenny, who was actually nice and helpful) stepped in.
Then came the worst part: I saw a bucket full of “disposable” slippers and toe separators being reused between clients. The pair they gave me even had dirt stains on the soles. That’s a huge sanitation issue.
When I looked at my receipt, I realized they added an extra dollar (x2) to my 20% tip after I swiped my card, see my second picture for details. They also taxed the tip (which is illegal) and charged 4.75% sales tax instead of NYC’s legal 4.5% for beauty services. That extra 0.25% may not sound like much, but multiplied by hundreds of clients, it adds up.
They seriously need an inspection from the Health Department — and possibly the Department of Finance for that sketchy tax issue, perhaps more customers should report this to 311. Between the coughing tech, reused “disposables,” painful service, and shady billing, this place is a health and hygiene hazard. Save your time, money, and skin — go...
Read moreI wanted to like this place. However today was my third visit and Lisa’s job disappointed! I went in for French almond nails. I showed the reference pic
I said I didnt like the pink base color, to see if she could adjusted before using it. She said she was going to add a thin layer of “marshmallow” to make it closer to the color I wanted. However she used “Wedding Veil color”… after curing the color. It was completely uneven and it had texture like dusty. As if the gel color was dirty. I could see the brush strokes clearly and it looked sandy. She offers to add another layer. However that was going to make the base for French almost completely white. She tries putting a layer of OPI pinkish color on top of the “wedding veil” it was still looking horrible. She had to drill and remove all the “wedding veil”gel color because it was just terrible. And she buff all the nails again to remove it. Then after she finishes taking the gel color off, I was so tired (2 hours later and me being pregnant seated in the same position) she said: I will just put the French on top of the Gel X base.. I said yeah.. it’s fine. She starts painting the French… it was so crooked so sideways. That it looked like a joke. I said: take it off and just put the top coat. I need to leave. She takes it off with a paper towel, leaving residue… and she puts the top coat and cure it.
Finally time to pay for terrible nails: they charged me: for UV gel new set + gel color + special shape… I DIDNT HAVE GEL COLOR AT ALL!!! The manager kept insisting that was the charge and they couldn’t change it.. no matter if I had the gel color or not.
Please see the disaster they made. And I ended up paying $61.28 for a very unsatisfactory work. I have to go somewhere else to know have them fixed.

Read moreI had gel on my hands but it was very little because my nails had been growing out for a while and I was filing them down. I requested that it be a dry manicure with no acetone and they accommodated for the gel removal, the cuticle removal, and the polish.
The woman hurt me multiple times with the machine while removing the gel. I don’t understand how or why if there was VERY LITTLE. She kept going over my whole nail, which I also didn’t understand since the gel was taking up less than half my nail at this point. She was rough and honestly damaged my nails from going over them so many times. I also did react/flinch when she hurt me. She would adjust the machine and her technique, but she always went back to hurting me, somehow. I also thought she removed my cuticles because she spent time working on them. Unsure what she removed. I didn’t ask for gel but that’s no excuse for lack of proper application and lack of shine. And I did allow them to dry properly before leaving. The woman even came over to me to check, confirmed they were dry, and shut the machine off for me before asking me to pay. I ended up removing the polish at home and doing my own nails.
In addition to the experience, I didn’t like the place itself. It didn’t appear to be as clean and organized as I had hoped. They seemed to be pretty busy, so maybe they have some really great techs in there that have gained loyal customers, but unfortunately, I didn’t get one of the great techs and will not...
