found 2 EXCELLENT dealers in vintage watches: a Russian whose name i forget who is very friendly, displays his wares (which are choice) attractively & will even trade if you have anything of interest. you can dicker w/him w/out any attitude or nonsense. the other vendor whose name I can't remember, is more taciturn even a bit morose, doesn't have a clue about how to display. but he was NEVER rude or hostile just not gregarious & also has some real beauties at attractive prices & is flexible on his prices. seems to know his stuff too. there is an African vendor of africana i.e. masks, textiles, carvings, furniture etc. sumptuous offerings and always willing to dicker on price. there are vendors who deal in 2nd hand tools but if you want an older power tool such as a drill you MUST get there EARLY. good selection of vintage & modern clothing too. lots of silver jewelry, old buttons & generally interesting flotsam & jetsam. MOST vendors r friendly some not as much. everyone's looking to deal so make a counter offer that's what a flea mkt is about. never found it OVERPRICED as 1 woman claimed. it's relaxed, laid-back & in good weather a great way to spend a few hours. QUITE a bit of history in many of these objects & frankly we could use a few MORE flea mkts of this sort in NY. oh, the admissions booth even has an electric outlet to test...

The market is clumsily run; the management has gradually alienated both dealers and customers. The most recent mistake is a $5.00 admission fee for early buyers (until 9:00). Especially given what the market usually looks like these days, this is an insult and will drive away many customers serious enough to show up early, which will in turn hurt the remaining serious dealers and send them elsewhere. The ultimate effect of this disastrous business decision will only be to hasten the demise of the market, which we can already...
