Despite Beatrice boasting front desk services, their approach to parcel management is misleading. Management states they receive parcels āas a courtesyā and disclaim any responsibility once parcels are in their possession. This means even if packages are signed for and stored in their storage room, they assume no responsibility if these packages go missing. This stance strips tenants of any recourse for compensation from the sender or carrier, leaving them to bear the loss. Prospective renters should be aware: the front desk service's promise of security is a facade; in reality, the safety of your parcels in their storage room is not guaranteed.
In less than a year, several of my parcels mysteriously disappeared in their storage room without a trace. In facing the issue of parcel disappearance, Beatrice's management has displayed a conduct that not only suggests a tendency to shirk responsibility but also raises serious doubts about their integrity.
Communicating with them has revealed a concerning pattern of dishonesty. Manager repeated denied of package receipt, in stark contrast to multiple confirmations from the front desk.
When evidence surfaced that contradicted their claims, the managerās response took a disturbing turn. From initial denial, they shifted to making baseless accusations, alleging that we had taken our own missing packages. This unfounded claim, made without any proof, felt like a blatant attempt at defamation. When I insisted on evidence to support their allegations, the management abruptly stopped communication, threatening to involve their legal team instead. This abrupt escalation to legal threats seemed like a clear attempt at intimidation.
The managerās tactic of using groundless accusations followed by the threat of legal action not only demonstrates a profound disregard for tenant rights but also showcases an alarming tendency towards intimidation rather than transparent and honest communication. While I am still waiting for any substantial evidence to back their serious accusations, their approach thus far raises concerns about their respect for lawful and ethical management practices.
In an inexplicable and concerning act, the manager shared our private email with the entire building staff. More troubling was the content, where they explicitly emphasized the buildingās policy of no responsibility for lost packages. This peculiar decision to broadcast a message of non-liability not only undermines the trust between tenants and management but also raises questions about the managementās motives.
This flagrant disregard for basic privacy and property safety creates an environment where negligence seems tolerated, if not encouraged. The management's choice to reassert their stance in such a public and assertive manner indicates a troubling lack of concern for tenant property, further eroding any sense of security or accountability within the building.
Their uncooperative stance extended to hindering my efforts to report to the police. Essential information was withheld, limiting my ability to provide the police with anything beyond the fact that packages were missing. I was unable to answer basic questions from the officers, such as whether the storage room had surveillance or was guarded. Even the responding officers were taken aback by the management's level of non-cooperation. Upon hearing my experiences, one officer remarked that it seemed like a classic case of an 'inside job.' This comment from an experienced officer gives me reason to suspect that the frequent package disappearances may be more than mere negligence, potentially hinting at illicit activities.
As a potential renter, one should approach Beatrice with caution. The reality behind its elegant faƧade is one of questionable practices, a lack of genuine concern for tenant welfare, and a management style that prioritizes their own interests over those of...
Ā Ā Ā Read more// LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION We've lived at the Beatrice for over 5 years, and we've recently transferred to a different apartment. When you spot Beatrice on Google Maps, you'll see one of the main reasons we chose this location -- you can get anywhere from here, at any time. Public transportation access options here are plentiful, and it's busy enough to know you'll always be able to hail a taxi or call an uber and have it arrive swiftly, but not too busy that it's loud or too crowded to enjoy the area.
// THE STAFF And if you ever talk with anyone who lives here or meet with the leasing team to take a tour, you'll understand why we stay -- the building is fantastic, but it's the staff -- the staff is comprised of top-notch, experienced, long-tenured talent.
// SURBURB LEADERSHIP & SERVICE - ERIC PERRY I'd like to save a more-thorough review of the staff for a different review; for this review, I'd like to focus on one staff member in particular -- Eric Perry, Assistant Community Manager.
When our General Manager, Olivia Nolan, was promoted (well-deserved; she was fantastic), Eric became the point person. While I don't think anyone has officially replaced Olivia in her role, I do hope Eric is on the short-list because he is phenomenal.
Obviously, he is extremely professional and has many years of experience, because at this particular Equity Residential property, the bar is set quite high. But he is also patient, kind, empathetic, a creative problem-solver, and someone who, regardless of how busy he is, is going to find time to slow down when he sees you, hold the elevator door for you, say hello, ask how you're doing, offer to lend a hand with whatever you're carrying, and before he leaves, he'll ask if you need anything else. It's really nice to come home after a long day to that type of interaction -- can feel the stress melt away.
// TRANSFERRING APARTMENTS - BEATRICE IS SILL HOME Which is how I felt when I worked with Eric to transfer to another apartment here at the Beatrice. The past several months, both professionally and personally, have been -- a challenge. Eric listened, brainstormed with me, and came up with a solution that allowed us to stay here, transferring to a different apartment two floors down. And with Eric at the helm managing the transfer process, I knew the process would be as smooth as possible, despite the rushed timeline.
Thankfully, we're still lucky enough to call the Beatrice home. And perhaps, one day, we'll be lucky enough to call Eric our friend. In the meantime, we'll look forward to seeing him in the elevator so we can say...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI lived in Beatrice for three years in a 1 bed 1 bath unit on the 48th floor, western exposure. This building is truly a gem and it was a delight to live there!
Beatrice has some of the best views in the city, anywhere. Period. I was looking right at Hudson Yards and it never failed to take my breath away every time I opened the door to my home. The Cloud Lounge has panoramic views of the entire city.
The units are functional. I had a large walk-in closet and a washer / dryer in-unit. The floor plan was easy to work with. There is a ton of natural light and big windows, but they don't make it awkward to fit furniture in.
Amenities are great. The Cloud Lounge is a great place to entertain and truly has some of the most epic views of the city. Imagine going up the elevator to a beautiful lounge to watch the July 4 or NYE firework shows from a skyscraper.... Incredible. The gym is huge and has a lot of equipment too (including squat racks, free weights, and machines. Not just cardio!).
Great staff. The people at the front desk are friendly and helpful. Eric runs a tight ship -- building management is great. Sanel, the maintenance supervisor, is also very responsive and effective.
Amazing location. It's a busy area near Herald Square but really an ideal spot for transportation, food, gyms, grocery stores, shopping, and other services. Everything is so convenient.
High-quality construction. The building is well-maintained and is well-constructed. The windows block out all of the city noise, the walls are thick, doors are heavy, etc.. The bones of the building are solid.
Finishings are okay -- maintained, but not the most modern. The cabinets, countertops, and vanities are pretty dated and could use a refresh. Appliances are a lot newer though, so it still feels modern enough overall. If I had to pick something I loved the least, this is what I'd pick, but I was still satisfied.
Overall I loved living here and recommend it to anyone who wants to be in a desirable, central area with the best views in the city. I ultimately left because I needed more space and there weren't larger units available that...
