Bodied Fitness club is THE BEST group fitness in NYC!
The coaches all genuinely care about the community of members and help everyone reach their goals, and push people (within their appropriate fitness level) and constantly give feedback and are really engaged throughout class.
The community is outstanding, my partner and I have made several friends and truly treasure our hour of fitness at the gym every day we go.
The programming is top notch - it's split throughout the week focused on different groups each day (i.e. legs, back, core, glutes, shoulders). It's challenging and follows 4 week "cycles". Getting progressively harder (again, adjusted based on your fitness level and gym experience) either through adjustments in weight, repetitions, or both. A lot of the exercises are compound exercises, so even though you're focusing on a particular area, you're still getting a full body workout.
Class generally follows with a strength based portion for 20-30 minutes, for example squats, or deadlifts, with another exercise such as pullups, and some superset accessory work. This is then followed by the "WOD" or cardio portion of the class, which is generally 10-15 minutes of a combination of movements focused on getting your heart rate up and having you constantly moving.
The gym also has frequent events (community 5K run, Pride WOD, social hours etc).
The gym has great showers and bathrooms available for everyone, with towels included if you need to shower before work (if you're a morning person) or after for dinner (if you're in an evening class).

Read moreI was always skeptical of the effectiveness of fitness classes and thought I was doing fine on my own. It took a while to realize that for years my strength training was trapped in a pattern of waning motivation over time, boredom with repetitive workouts, and up and down consistency. I knew I needed to try something new, and that's when I gave Bodied a shot.
I've just completed my 10th week and the change physically and mentally has been drastic. The programming is intelligent enough to push me everyday but not leave me so burnt out I can't function for 2 days -- I'm easily showing up 5-6 days a week! I can confidently say I'm in the best shape I've been in in years, and the coaches have me on a clear path to continue to reach my highest potential. The routine is so fortified in my schedule now, that it's lead to unexpected improvements of my sleep schedule, focus at work and eating better. Everyone in my personal and work life has seen the change and comments on it, it's nice to feel the love!
