Brooklyn friends invited me for a drink. I'd heard of Den of Splendor and was pleasantly surprised by the intimate environment, though small, it was clean, with well spaced furniture and cool, and the bar suggested a wide variety of drinks and beverages; the bartender, clearly very experienced and knowledgeable about maintaining a bar and is an accomplished mixologist. I was also impressed by the food offerings, prepared and served with a unique Youruban flair and West African tastes. More importantly, for a bar, the music wasn't too loud to inhibit conversations; one didn't have to shout to be heard. From the moment we walked in, we were enveloped in a welcoming atmosphere with dim lighting and decor that set the perfect mood for the evening. The music was a standout feature, with a great DJ playing a mix of everything from Hip hop to Afro beats which had everyone tapping their feet or on the dance floor. The sound quality was top-notch, allowing us to enjoy the music without it being overpowering.
We also shared a platter of in house made hors d'oeuvres which paired wonderfully with our cocktails.

The staff do an amazing job at making sure everyone is comfortable in the space. I only see the bar/ lounge getting better with their expansion. I can't wait to celebrate good times and times when I really need a drink here. I'm appreciative of love received when I enter through those doors.
