The pharmacy manager at this location, Daniel Birdsong, has unfortunately created an unwelcoming atmosphere for customers due to his management style. During the first two hours of operation, it seems that the pharmacy staff does not prioritize answering customer calls. It personally took me two hours to get through to someone, as my calls were repeatedly put on hold.
Once I was finally able to speak with a staff member, I was met with a negative attitude. The conversation took a turn for the worse when the employee took offense to my exasperated tone, resulting in them hanging up on me. It then took an additional hour of being placed on and off hold to get through again.
It's clear that the manager's approach to leadership is impacting the pharmacy staff's behavior. Despite being a busy location, customers should not have to suffer from a subpar experience. It may be beneficial for the pharmacy to reconsider their workflow or employ additional staff to handle the workload.
While the manager may be skilled in his role as a pharmacist, it appears he may not possess the necessary management skills to effectively lead his team. This situation demonstrates the potential consequences of having a manager who may not be well-suited to...
Read moreI usually appreciate the convenience of having a Duane Reade right across the street from my home, but my experience yesterday was disappointing enough that I felt compelled to leave a review.
I visited the store on Sunday evening around 6 PM. The person at the register — a tall woman wearing a red t-shirt with braids — was incredibly rude, not just to me but to other customers as well. I was surprised by her tone and lack of basic courtesy during what should have been a simple checkout process.
Out of concern, I asked another employee who the manager was, and to my shock, they told me she is the manager. It’s troubling that someone in a leadership position would behave so unprofessionally and treat customers with such disrespect.
She may know how to do her job in terms of tasks and operations, but her behavior reflects poorly on the store. I hope upper management or a district manager takes this seriously and observes her interactions more closely. Good customer service starts at the top, and respect goes a long way in keeping...
Read moreDuane Reade, 180 W 20th Street, has experienced ongoing issues with inaccuracies, inefficiency, and delays since the previous pharmacist, Daniel, left last summer. Using this location for prescriptions for three family members on a regular basis has been increasingly frustrating.
The two new pharmacists (1 full-time, 1 Thursday coverage) have: Delayed or denied prescriptions for no clear reason, even after verification with my insurance plans.
Misread two doctors’ orders, resulting in incorrect prescriptions and dosing.
Promised to order medications for next-day delivery, only for me to find they were never ordered.
Failed to fill prescriptions on time, often requiring multiple return visits.
These are serious, potentially dangerous issues. This is a neighborhood pharmacy that serves the same community every day. While the staff is trying hard, they are unfairly bearing the consequences for the mistakes and poor management of two pharmacists who are not performing their jobs...
