It’s astonishing to me that some reviewers can say anything but wonderful things about this fantastic shop. I have lived on the upper east side for over 30 years, and until I found Eddie’s (I had rarely walked on First Avenue...), I was appalled at some of the places in Manhattan that portend to know how to cut hair and shave a face. The important thing about a barber shop is not whether they give you beverages while you are waiting, whether you can also get a shoeshine there, or whether your barber has a lengthy conversation with you as he’s attending to your hair or face. What is most relevant is the quality of the haircut and shave — and in that respect, you would be hard pressed to find a finer establishment...
