I frequent this store mainly for my purchase of biallys and salmon cutlets; never have I had any reason to complain. Unfortunately I experienced the most distasteful display of depleted customer service from the Meat Attendant this morning. I purchased four prepackaged salmon slices on Friday March 25th, 2022 at approx. 8 :35 a.m for the sum of $20.22, while on my way to work in the vicinity. I live in Brooklyn about 1 I/2 hours away by train, and it was not until I got home that evening eager to prepare the fish, I realized there was a foul odor coming from the purchased items. I informed the supervisor of the store this morning, Today March 28th, 2022 and she contacted the meat attendant. I showed them the pic of the purchase, and the receipt but absent the spoiled fish. The meat attendant gentleman immediately got defensive and vehemently informed he cannot reimburse without the evidence of the decomposed fish. Understandably so, I attempted to explain the time of purchase and my reasoning why I was unable to return the product due to the distance I had to travel, in addition the inconvenience it would pose to riders bringing the spoiled fish 3 days later on a crowded morning train. Whilst I understand the need to see the item, I was more perturbed by his disrespectful tone, and utter lack of empathy as a customer. Never once was he apologetic in his attempt at explaining the reimbursement policy (which I really wasn't hell bent on getting back any money), but his subluminal accusatory tone of mendacity on my part was disgusting. I was embarrassed and bewildered by this level of customer service from this gentleman at a store I almost always patronize. My word, this is a customer centric business, with this level of unprofessionalism, it...

There are many flaws to this location - but aside from the limited choices, the most glaring is the lack of customer service and basic human empathy. Granted - I’m not a native New Yorker, but Gristedes in Washington Heights gives better customer service - and that’s not a compliment.
Yesterday I strolled into Morton Williams looking for specific meat selection. After browsing - I couldn’t find it. I asked the attendant - who I presumed was the butcher - and he immediately and abruptly said “No. We don’t have any.” So I went back and decided on another cut of meat. I picked it up - what do you know - hidden below were tons of what I was looking for.
Basic human decency dictates that you help a customer when they ask for assistance - but I guess not here. It’s sad - because I really want to like this place. They have organic girl power green salad. How can I hate a place that has...
Read moreI dumpster dive here. It is amazing what I found in heir dumpsters: salmon, potatoes, beer (and don't think I was taking the yingling and colors or whatever that cat piss is called - no, I picked the beers I liked), yogurt (of my choosing, I don't just eat any), bread, raspberries, strawberries, Haagen danz ice cream, nelly's eggs, misc beef and turkey for my dog; salads galore (kale, broccoli, spinach).
The management tells me they will soon crank down on my and other denizens' free-for-all. This is kinda just fine with me cuz I can afford he stuff. But I somehow think it is close to criminal to raise hens to give us eggs and then send those eggs (and milk, and butter, and fish) ton the landfill. And don't even start me on the "illegals" who pick those trashed raspberries, blueberries and strawberries for us!
Oh, and whenundrop you plastic bags at the store.,. Well they end up discarded with the General garbage. They are not recycled, don't...
