A New York gem. Erik is fantastic– quick, honest, fair, and most importantly faultless at what he does. He has saved so many of my shoes, and now, whenever I go back to him, I usually take a few pairs from my friends too. All of us are always very satisfied. Also, a true testament to his honesty– I once came to him with an unusual vintage pair of boots from the 70s where the heel had fallen off, and Erik told me that he won't be able to fix it (this is the first and only time he has said this to me) because he didn't have the appropriate tools/machine for this specific fault/shoe. However, he sent me to his friend who did and who was able to complete the job for me. Note that this really was an unique pair of shoes, so this was definitely not any kind of shortcoming on Erik's part, but a real mark of professionalism. I would recommend...

Great service, thoughtful and transparent, cheap price. I brought in my boots that needed resoling for the heels. Erik replaced the soles and had the boots ready for me to pick up in about an hour for $20. He also offered to put in taps for a few more dollars, and when I asked him what taps are, he explained how they reduce wear on the soles themselves, so that I can just get the taps replaced instead of spending more money on resoling in the future. It’s been a few months now and the replaced heels and taps are still looking solid! (also a little more backstory for comparison: right before visiting Erik I had gone to a highly rated cobbler on Wall Street, who told me they would have to entirely resole my boots for $100. Been going here for years (and my mom took me there even as a kid for her shoes!) and love his work. He even told me the one time a boot tailoring job went beyond his comfort level of expertise and recommended a different shop for the job (his reference was perfect for the work needed!). I trust that he will always do a good job and be honest beforehand if an item is too far gone or too specialized. He just made a pair of shearling boots like brand new. He fixed the worn seat heels with good chunky rubber heels that look as good or better than the original heels! He's brought my husband's shoes back from the dead too....
