This is the second time I've been here, this time was to get color with Jordan and a cut with Brandon, the first time was just a cut with Brandon. My experience for both times and with both artists was absolutely amazing. If you want to feel pampered, relaxed and come away with the best hair ever I highly recommend this wonderful location.
Brandon- I am blown away by Brandon's professional expertise but also ability to really understand what you're looking for and add in his own style. He educates me on what to expect based on my natural hair throughout the day, how I style it and what I'm looking for. I've never had my hair fully styled after a wash and cut to where it feels like I'm getting ready for a special occasion. The way he styles my hair is absolutely perfect, natural, elegant but without being overdone. The products and techniques he employs are top quality. I'm so glad I found him as my new hair guru!
Jordan- I've been getting highlight color done for 10 years now at various places and I have to say Jordan is #1. He hand paints vs. foils so the control over where the color and light is in your hair is unreal. My hair was pretty much only natural brown color at the time I saw him and he had such knowledgeable recommends for his vision of perfect sun kissed but natural highlights. I also love how the team sets you up with a lap pillow and makes sure you're comfortable as you settle in for a relaxing time (color can take a couple hours). I can tell Jordan has so much experience and a great artistic eye for the vision he has with each client. I live outside of the city so he even made sure the highlights I got were easy to maintain between visits. As I saw my new color come through afterwards I couldn't stop smiling. I will not be letting anyone else touch my hair color going forward.
Location- The location is so vibrant but relaxed and everyone that works there is so experienced and nice. Their hair products/tools, drink menu, robes, chairs and every detail feels luxury. I love the ease of seeing prices and appointments online. You feel welcomed into a third space like feel that will have you looking forward to your next visit.
Price- I've paid lower and higher than what I paid here. I'd say their price is very much worth the quality of experience and expertise. Personally the trust in knowing you'll be pampered and come out feeling like your best self is priceless to me.
Note: Be aware that when you are there you will also be alongside other appointments and some of the prep and styling will be done by your stylist's assistants/team. This doesn't bother me at all and they do it in a way that you still feel cared for and catered to. I actually love the team vibe and everyone is so knowledgeable and skilled. But I know some people would prefer their stylist to be only with them...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI came in for a full color appointment (roots to ends) and was told beforehand that it would be $350. I asked if that included styling, and they said blowout would be an additional $60. Obviously, I wasnāt trying to leave the salon with unstyled hair, so I agreed to the extra charge because i was traveling from the city to Brooklyn.
When I arrived, I explained what I wanted and showed the colorist a reference photo. He listened and gave his input, which I appreciated. I told him I trusted his opinion and let him go with what he thought would work best. He mentioned that since Iād never bleached my hair before, heād try another method to lift the color, and if needed, weād bleach it later. Then he told me the total would actually be $400. Not what I was expecting, but I was already sitting there, so I just went with it.
He started applying the product that was supposed to lift the color, and I honestly lost track of how many times he reapplied and washed my hair. Eventually, he did end up bleaching it anyway, and then finally applying the actual color. After about 25ā30 minutes, an assistant washed it out. Side note: the washing station setup was pretty bad, i was getting splashed with water from the person next to me. Not the end of the world, but for the price I was paying, I expected a bit more professionalism.
Then I was passed off to another stylist for the blowout. She started off nice, but quickly got judgmental, asking when I last got a haircut. I told her it was just a week ago, professionally done, and she kept saying my hair was uneven and trying to convince me to let her cut it ā which just wasnāt true. She also mentioned how dry my hair was now (gee, I wonder why?) and recommended some treatments, which was fine and i appreciated it, but at this point I was kind of over it.
When I went to pay, the total was $480 and after tip, $520. For that price, I expected to walk out with amazing results and a noticeable difference. Instead, my hair looks pretty much the same as before. Iāve shown people before-and-after pictures, and no one could even tell I got it colored.
The whole experience just wasnāt worth it. The vibe of the place didnāt feel welcoming at all, and everything felt way too transactional. But i will say that the girl at the front desk was super nice. I honestly wish I had waited for my regular stylist or just gone literally anywhere else. Definitely wonāt be...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI usually donāt write bad reviews but had to put this out thereā¦I wonāt lie this is the most expensive and worst haircut Iāve had. I asked for long face framing layers and ended up with the shaggiest most uneven layers Iāve ever gotten done in my life. In my consultation I expressed my concerns around thinning hair and wanted to make sure the layers didnāt give me that āVā damaged look but I got exactly that. I included a reference photo from a previous better hair cut when I had bleached damaged hair - my hair still looked full and āhealthierā even with some selective face framing layers.
Formy did offer me a free revision cut but when I went in the stylist spent most of the time defending the layered cut and insisting it looks fine when itās styledā¦while I understand layers can look a bit choppy unstyled by their nature no haircut should look this unkempt and uneven. None of the layers are connected and there are random short thinned bits all over. There are a couple bunches of longer less layered hair underneath that just are completely separated from the shorter pieces near the face. I tried to explain my dissatisfaction but the stylist wasnāt really understanding the miss which was a bit frustrating.
Unrelated to the cut itself, when I went the hair washing stations were broken and the sinks were clogged. The assistants tried their best to drain the water manually with buckets but it was a chaotic experience with mucky water splashing all over my face and eyes.
Considering I spent over $300 not including tip on this salon, Iām sorely disappointed. I will caveat the front desk was friendly and they did offer the revision and apologized for the inconvenience but still I wouldnāt recommend this place to a friend. The hair colorist (separate from the stylist) was good though so thereās that. Be warnedššš. I guess Iāll just spend the next 5 months growing out these horrid...
