This company has been running a giant Youtube ad campaign in the last few days, showing children screaming, in a totally inadequate context. Since I worked in the advertising industry, I know very well that it takes a lot of money to run such large advertising campaigns (hundred thousands/millions of dollars). The question that arises is: where does this company get all the money to do these intensive advertising campaigns? Furthermore, showing poverty pushed to the extreme (often with cries of children) is often a strategy to attract the pity of good people to send money, money that no one knows to whom they will go. Almost probably no one cent will go to that hungry baby family. I did donate to the organization but I am still getting ads from them everywhere with the same videos of sick children crying. I have to throw my phone down because it disturbs me greatly. I have autism and this is causing me distress. I am aware hunger exists. I donate to homeless shelters and emergency aid groups all the time. I hate being reminded of it while I am trying to relax at home surfing on YouTube. How much money is being used from the organization to run these ads anyway? If we can help one child or person, out of their starvation, I would be one of the happiest person. I’m assuming they’re advertising these kind of videos to remind you over and over not to forget the children and their families. As long as my donation goes to help a child I don’t mind seeing the ads for 5 seconds. There is one thing though, I wish you can have a blank space to choose and type how much to give instead of having multiple choice to pick. Because people should donate whatever their heart desires.
