On Thursday 9/28/23, my wife and I stopped by the Ephrata Pa street fair after a long day at work. We were walking through RTE. 322 and happened upon the Green Mountain Energy booth. At first, I thought they were selling solar panels. Scott corrected and said they were pitching an alternative to PPL. At that point I explained we had had already signed up with a PPLalternative. I was willing just to listen to Scott. I was ok to get information to take and compare their costs and plans with my current energy supplier. Iām a salesman. Iām an ez sale. However, Iām not an idiot. This guy Scott took me for a fool and proceeded to sign me up unbeknownst to me. How dare he! How dare Green Mountain Energy have the AUDACITY to allow a representative do THIS to a prospective customer! Of all the shady things Iāve encountered in my life, this was THE most disgusting. Yes, I was open to compare.I did NOT willingly request the change. That was criminal. Scott robbed me on 9/28/23. I would never lie to a customer to make a sale. Iāve been a long time successful sales manager. If I had a salesperson do this to a customer, Iād fire them immediately! Thatās one thing I made clear to Anyone who worked for me. When I returned home from the Ephrata fair, I received an email āwelcomingā me to Green Mountain Energy. WHAT! I also received a text welcome message with an attached survey. I could NOT access the survey. So, here I am totally ticked off with my blood boiling. Here I dealt with a salesman with ZERO morals. It was dark and I had no way to look at any āprogram.ā So this disgrace of a rep just puts my information into an IPad messing with my life! How dare he do this! Well, I did have ā3 days to cancel.ā BUT, the so called.customer service closed at 8pm. I had to waste my time to spend over a half hour Friday morning to go through to trouble of canceling a service I didnāt willfully sign up for. I was late for work because of that dirtbag Scott. So Friday night 9/29 I stopped by the Ephrata fair to give that incompetent thief of a salesman a piece of my mind. Unfortunately, he was off. There was a kid there who kinda ran interference telling me he just worked there and would not even try to roll my complaint up to a manager. All he said was I could cancel anytime. Thatās how this company works? Throw poop against the wall and see what sticks! Green Mountain Energy is THAT hard up for sales they allow reps to sell dirty? Iāve had both feet, knees and shoulders operated on. My feet hurt terribly EVERY day. BUT, I walked down AND then up that hill on 322 from my car to give this thief a piece of my mind. For me it was worth the pain. Unfortunately, Scott the incompetent thief wasnāt there. I, finally, was able to catch another rep whoād been there Thursday night and he gave me a supervisorās number. He knew I was pissed. Donāt do me like that man. The supervisorās excuse was Scott was new. He might be new, but he was quite good at totally misrepresenting and stealing from me. I suggest, donāt sign up with this...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreQuestionable to fraudulent business practices. My wife encountered a sales person from Green Mountain at a KMART kiosk just outside of Baltimore, MD at the end of July this year. Apparently Green Mountain is a new energy middleman in our area, and they are aggressively courting customers at various retail locations. They pitched her and asked for information, including our BGE (Baltimore Gas & Electric) account number. She didn't have the BGE info (and wasn't comfortable signing up for something without talking to me), but asked the sales person to send us more information. She gave him my email address and our physical mailing address. We immediately looked into the company (I mean, who doesn't want renewable/more green energy at an affordable price?), and decided against it once we read a multitude of negative reviews.
Green Mountain attempted to contact me via phone and email for a few weeks after this, but I ignored them since we had decided to not pursue the switch to their service. About a month after my wife's encounter with the Green Mountain sales person at KMART, I received a letter in the mail from them congratulating me on officially becoming a customer. At this point I had never spoken to anyone at Green Mountain, nor had I signed up for any service through their website or otherwise. I called our current provider, BGE, and they informed me that Green Mountain had indeed submitted paperwork to have my service cancelled at BGE and shifted to them. Using my home address and phone number, Green Mountain submitted the paperwork, and apparently this is fairly standard had I given consent. Since I hadn't, I immediately called Green Mountain to find out how this happened. The customer service agent agreed this should never have happened and processed my cancellation immediately...but with a caveat: It would probably take a billing cycle before we were switched back to BGE, which means they would at least get one service month's worth of money from me before I get switched back. This is all still recent, and I'm exploring my options. Either way, do NOT give their sales people any of your personal information, and I'd advise against this company in general based on the...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreDo not fall for this. My roommate and I were going to the movies, stopped by a very kind lady saying to go green and you can sign up for free with con Ed. We thought eh why not? We wanna be greener....Bad move. They donāt mention that you have to cancel within 3 if you donāt want it to be on your account. After our movie I looked up reviews and saw others (like myself now) speaking on how much of a rip off this is. I then thought you know what, let me cancel it, Iāll research more and decide if we wanna switch back. I sent two emails, but I knew they probably wouldnāt get back to me in the 3 day period (almost 5 days later and they still havenāt). So I called. It took me a full hour of calling 5 different numbers they had and being on hold to finally speak with someone. When I asked to cancel she tried to talk me out of it but I again stated we joined on a whim, and would like to do more research, then if we feel, weād switch back. She gave me a cancelled code (mind you I had to ask her to read it back because she said it so fast I couldnāt understand her, literally almost like she didnāt want me to hear it), and I asked for a confirmation email stating it was cancelled and she said āI gave you a code, thatās all you needā Iām like okay. Two days later, I get an email from con ed saying we switched the green mountain even though I canceled, at least thought I did. Called Con Ed and they said it was still pending on my account and was going to take effect in a few weeks. Thatās the other thing they donāt mention, even if you ācancelā itāll still go through, luckily the man I spoke to from con Ed was very nice and was able to remove it from my account for me. Long story short, donāt fall for these people saying āhereās a free $5 gift card!!! Join us!!ā Without doing your research first. (And to be honest, the only reason I stopped for her in the first place was because I thought she was checking our tickets lol) If something seems to good to be true, it most likely is. Wouldāve gave it a chance if it wasnāt for the terrible customer service and making it impossible to cancel or speak to anyone. Wish I could...
