Herald Towers continues to go above and beyond for its tenants! But in a world where entitlement is commonplace, some people think they deserve special treatment. You get back what you give out. And Herald Towers gives so much to its tenants---more than I've ever seen in any other building. Quite simply, Herald Towers is awesome! It was my home for nearly 10 years until I retired to Florida. And I loved everything about it. The location, the amenities, the renovations, the extra tenant perks (almost weekly), and management's constant attention to improving the quality of life for everyone who lives there. What a gem! What a find Herald Towers is! Do not take it for granted and do not underestimate it. As a former co-op owner and a lifetime member of Mensa, I will vouch for the fact that you will never find a more dedicated and fun-loving group of people working together in one building who share the common goal of making sure that all tenants have a wonderful experience there. Get to know the people of Herald Towers. Vicky at the Concierge stands out as a proactive, kind-hearted and efficient woman who likes to get things done properly and who acts in the best interests of the tenants and Herald Towers. David in the office goes out of his way to accommodate tenants and their needs. Sebastien excels at overseeing almost everything that affects tenants. Michael, Lily, Toure, and Klaus are always there when you need them. Jimmy fixes anything that needs fixing and takes care of issues right away. You'd be hard-pressed to find a better group of people. Josh of JEMB Realty is terrific! In fact, JEMB Realty is terrific! There is an exterminator on premises several days a week should you ever need one. The water runs brown sometimes? Yes, like in all buildings in Manhattan twice a year when they clean out the pipes. Herald Towers is well maintained, and if you have a concern, just let the office know. My security deposit was returned to me in full and in a timely manner. Of course! This is a top-notch organization. If you're looking for an outstanding place to live in the heart of Manhattan, check out Herald Towers. You might just find yourself...
Read moreTheir leasing office is a complete nightmare. David Weise, the leasing agent, managed to send out our rental lease to the wrong email addresses. The lease not only contained all the tenants' names, but also our mailing addresses, our guarantors' names, our guarantors' mailing addresses, and our guarantors' partial social security numbers. He said that my handwriting was difficult to read on the application, so he had misread my family name as something else. This caused him to incorrectly type my guarantor's (my dad) and my email (we use our last names in our email addresses) as well as incorrectly write our last names in the lease. I quickly pointed this mistake out to him and he fixed our last names on the lease...but not in the email addresses....and resent the corrected lease to the same two wrong email addresses. Which immediately triggered my, "WHY IS THIS HAPPENING??" reflex. Seeing how their application process requires that we send in pay stubs with THE CORRECT LAST NAME, and our driver's licenses WITH THE CORRECT LAST NAME and I had sent all this information to his email address WITH MY CORRECT EMAIL ADDRESS, I don't really understand how he was able to make this mistake, TWICE IN A ROW. The funny part was, before all this happened, I was in semi-regular email contact with the Herald towers' administrative assistant, Shanelle Matthews. Every email she sent me, she would cc David. Now we're all at risk for identity theft because David sent our personal information to two strangers....TWICE. I would write more on what horrors happened next, but that would require you to put on some comfy pajamas and grab a bowl of popcorn. Another...

If you're willing to overlook how management is, then you can stay here no problem
The package room has designated hours and listed lunch breaks, but then when you go during listed hours, it says they're gone from 1-3pm.
Renters don't get their security deposits back within two weeks. I have heard personal accounts of it taking two months and more, for one friend it took a full year.
The laundry room has been under renovation for nearly 7 months now. The entire laundry room, where everyone came to do their laundry, closed down. I'm not sure why they couldn't close down just half of it at a time or provided other effective solutions. Management initially offered to subsidize laundry but then offered a drop off service in the building at a hiked price. The drop off service also consistently loses customer's items and mixes them up with other people's.
Cockroaches in the apartments and sometimes mice.
There's barely any ventilation in the bathrooms.
Don't be wooed by the amenities, take EVERYTHING into consideration.
The lounge area and rooftop are amazing
A few of the doorman are friendly, some are rude and intentionally make things difficult
The maintenance guys are wonderful and prompt
There's occasionally brown water and no one is notified. It just happens because of all of the construction going on.
You're choosing between natural light + great views + street noise rooms OR barely any natural light + facing inside + quiet rooms
Also note: I would take the 5 star reviews with a grain of salt. Especially those that have no picture and just...
