It’s overall a terrible experience. I wanted to try out this new place because my usual hairdresser is out of town and I live really close by. And the price is 95 for a haircut so I assume with this price point they should know their way. Before this experience, I’ve had my haircut with several different salons in several different cities and I’ve never had a bad experience and this place was so far the most expensive.

I asked for long layers which is in the past all I have to say to get a pretty good haircut. But the lady that did my hair did not seem to understand it. She cut my hair shorter (which is what I asked for) but did not section my hair at all when she cut it which was already a little weird. Then she said she’s done. I said I wanted more layers and showed her a picture. She then started to say how I have thin hair in the very back so she can’t do layers but she would try. I have always been told I have thick hair from multiple hairdressers who have done my hair in the past so her reasoning was a little weird. Then she tried to add more layers but did not look like my picture at all. And she also cut my hair kinda aggressively like I can tell she was not happy with my feedback. I pretty much gave up at this point. I told her I felt one side is slightly longer than the other side (at least I want my hair the same length) she then told me that’s because my hair on that side is thicker. I don’t understand how it had to do with length. At this point I just didn’t want her to touch my hair anymore cuz I didn’t want it worse. She also did not do a nice blow out or even tried the slightest to style my hair a little (like other salons would normally do). I still paid full price and tipped her. But I told them I was really unsatisfied with my haircut. They didn’t really apologize or tried to make it a better experience for me. I cried on my way home.

Excellent and first class hair salon for both men and women hair care needs! My whole family comes here. My husband gets his amazing hair cut here with Tenzin. My son also comes for his hair cut with both Tenzin and Natsume and they’re the best stylists we have ever encountered in the world since we have lived in many countries (Germany, Singapore, England, Switzerland) prior to living in New York. These stylists are perfectionists and provide so much care and attention to my husband and my son’s haircut. They always look great after each visit. Not only do Tenzin cut their hair, he always show them how to take care of their hair so that it can continue to grow beautifully and healthy.

I use Tenzin as well for all my hair care needs. I come to him monthly for my hair touch up. I had also done a Japanese permanent hair straightening with him as my natural hair was hard to manage, dry, frizzy and took a long time to straighten after every wash. It was one of the best services I had ever done. Tenzin made my hair looks amazing, easy to care for and I haven’t used a hair straightener ever since. I plan to have this permanent straightening service twice a year just to make sure my hair is easy to care for on my own and healthy looking. I have been looking for a hair stylist due to the fact that I have neglected my hair. I have not cut my hair since 2021 and I had alot of damaged ends, and breakages to the hair. I felt like my face and my features appeared flat and no volume structure to my hair. When I started the search I came to find this hidden gem of a hair salon in the neighborhood of my job. I looked into the reviews and saw one name repeatedly Tenzin. I scheduled my appointment and I was elated by his presence, warm personality, attentiveness, and empathy to my concerns about my hair. He was extremely gentle and very charismatic. We discussed the many ways of styling my hair based on what I was looking for and I totally felt understood. He had such a gentle touch when washing my hair it made me feel tranquil and I felt like I was in good hands. He layered my hair and removed the damaged ends and removed the breakages. I looked and felt like a completely different person. I am extremely grateful to have met Tenzin. I look and feel fabulous, and I fully intend on seeing him again in 6 months to keep up with the care of my hair that I take full responsibility for neglecting.
