Very rarely am I blown away by “hyped up places” these days but this is one of the few. Came here with a friend with no reservation on the weekend and was seated outside within 10 mins! The staff was beyond kind and helpful. We were super excited to try the food here so we ordered a bunch including matchas, the cardamom bun, the sweet potato & leek soup, the veggie sandwich with smoked salmon, and the crispy potato smørrebrød. The matchas were pretty standard and the cardamom bun was a little bigger than other places. The soup was so amazing. It came with bread on the side, but all the flavors together with the spices in the soup and its almost paste-like texture made it so good on a cold day. The veggie sandwich was massive, almost inedible because everything kept pouring out of it. The picked vegetables and the marinated greens paired so well with the smoked salmon. I couldn’t get enough. The portion was also so so massive for the price. The crispy potato smørrebrød was acidic and savory in the best ways. Smor is a cozy restaurant serving up a menu of a Nordic-inspired of small and large plates in the East Village. the interior has a warm modern vibe with a variety of seating options—it is a small space. there are a variety of outdoor seating options as well. the restaurant is super clean, well maintained, and has a casual pleasant to the eye decor.

stopped by and picked up a light dinner to go. got a Danish Hot Dog + Potato Salad. the Danish Hot Dog is a quality grilled hotdog topped with remoulade, thin sliced pickles, and crispy onions. the hotdog had a nice “snap” which is a sign of a quality hotdog with good casing. the hotdog plus the remoulade & pickle slices was a nice savory bite with touch of sweetness. and the onions added a nice crunchy texture. the potato salad was flavorful not heavy at all as it is packed with herbs and citrus, but all in all satisfying especially with the hotdog.
