Where to Play Squash in New York? A Comprehensive Guide to 16 Top Spots ❣️

Update: Now one of the two elevators to higher floors, which I got stuck, is out - for 3 weeks. And of course the management is dead silent about the issue. Be aware that it takes ages to come up or go down every time. Yet they emailed residents to give a 5 star review on google map? Ridiculous Elevator is not safe, which makes it even worse that there are so many units high up. I was stuck in the elevator and it even dropped for couple of feet. The elevator has no phone connection, so had to wait in fear for 20 mins, on 41st floor!!!! for someone to take me out. And the building is not responding to any of my complaints. I loved the building and staffs but leasing office is not responsive with this issue, not explaining what the reason or remedial action would be.

I’m writing to share our experience with the leasing process at The Lyra Apartments, which was both disappointing and concerning. It reflected a lack of professionalism, transparency, and fairness that we did not expect from a property of this caliber.

My husband applied for a unit at The Lyra and worked directly with your leasing agent, Lauren. From the beginning, he clearly communicated that the offer letter he submitted was for a second position—not a replacement for his current employment. In addition to this letter, he provided pay stubs reflecting a current income of over $200,000 annually. The new role—also a confirmed offer—would pay a salary exceeding his current position, bringing his total verifiable income to well above your stated requirements.

Despite meeting and exceeding the financial qualifications, he was told that his application was only conditionally approved due to income concerns. When he followed up, Lauren indicated that she had assumed the new position was replacing his current role. My husband reiterated—again—that this was supplemental employment, as he had initially stated.

Instead of resolving this misunderstanding, the process devolved into additional scrutiny. Questions were raised about how he could manage two positions and why one of the jobs was based in another state. In today’s remote-first professional landscape, where holding multiple roles and working across state lines is both common and acceptable, this line of questioning felt outdated and unjustified.

He also made clear that he was on a tight timeline, yet communication became sporadic and unclear. After days of follow-up with no meaningful response, we ultimately received notice that his application had been denied—without any explanation.

What’s most troubling is that his income, even without the second role, exceeded the leasing criteria. Previously, he was told a guarantor might be needed, yet when it was clarified that the second job was supplemental and not a replacement, the result inexplicably changed to a full denial. This inconsistency raises serious concerns about the decision-making process and the standards being applied.

My husband has lived in luxury residences around the world due to his professional responsibilities, and he has consistently maintained a positive history as a tenant. He has never experienced such dismissiveness, ambiguity, or lack of courtesy in a leasing process. Given his qualifications, we are left to question whether bias may have influenced this outcome. As a minority applicant, the lack of transparency and accountability was not only disappointing—it was disheartening.

We were initially drawn to The Lyra for its relative affordability compared to nearby properties, many of which charge between $9,300 and $9,800 monthly. But no amount of savings justifies the disregard and lack of integrity shown throughout this experience.

We hope that this feedback is received with the seriousness it warrants, and that it prompts internal review on how applicants are treated—especially those from underrepresented backgrounds. No qualified applicant should be subjected to a process that feels arbitrary, inconsistent, or...

Maintenance and concierge are AMAZING! The leasing office is an absolute disaster. After 3 years of loyalty, their rudeness and lack of respect have driven me out. They are so RUDE I didn’t know it was humanly possible to be this rude!

The leasing office is dismissive, unhelpful, rude, and at times outright hostile. During the renewal I couldn't even speak to them in person or on the phone - they’re rude and unapproachable face-to-face, which is unacceptable in a tenant-facing role. Even after escalating my concerns, there was no accountability or action. The renewal process was extremely painful, and it took them over a month to respond - only after constant chasing on my end. I can’t fathom the idea of ever dealing with them again. Christopher helped me with previous renewals, but he’s gone now, and the experience has completely collapsed without him.

I’ve been a tenant here for 3 years, and the only reason I stayed this year is because of the concierge & maintenance team. They are the true heart of this building - hands down the best team I have ever come across: kind, reliable, and professional. Rockrose should be grateful to each and every one of them, because they are the only reason tenants put up with everything else. They’re the reason I stayed for one last year; without them, I would have left immediately after this renewal experience.

The concierge & maintenance staff make this building feel like home; the leasing office ruins the experience completely. I’ve already signed this lease, but in 2026 I am OUT - and I will never deal with the leasing management company again for the rest of my life!

I truly wanted to leave the best review because of the concierge and maintenance team - they deserve every word of praise - but the leasing office overshadows their hard work and ruins the...

We had worked with Christopher Schaap, the Assistant Leasing Manager at Lyra, and I must say, he provided exceptional service. Christopher was extremely knowledgeable about the building and took the time to explain the lease process thoroughly. He went above and beyond by giving us multiple tours of different apartments and patiently addressing all our questions and concerns.

One of the main factors that influenced our decision to sign a lease at this building was the promotion they were offering for new tenants - two months of free rent. This was a fantastic incentive and added value to our decision-making process.

Since moving into this building, we couldn't be happier with our choice. The building itself is brand new, which is a major plus. It's always great to live in a fresh, well-maintained space. Additionally, the amenities provided are top-notch, and the rooftop is simply amazing. It's a great place to relax and enjoy the beautiful views of Manhattan.

What truly sets Lyra apart is the exceptional support we have received from the staff. From the initial move-in process to any ongoing assistance we've needed, the staff has been incredibly helpful, friendly, and responsive. It's reassuring to know that there's a team of dedicated professionals who genuinely care about the residents and their experience.

Overall, I highly recommend leasing at Lyra. Christopher Schaap's expertise and assistance, combined with the building's modern features and outstanding amenities, make it an excellent choice for anyone looking for a new place to call home. The level of support we have received from the staff has been outstanding, and we are truly grateful for the positive experience...
