I've gone everywhere from mom and pop shops to large chains in multiple states, but after 11 years of searching, I was never able to find glasses that fit me -- until I came to MK2 Optical. There was no wait time, plenty of safety precautions taken, and amazingly friendly and knowledgable staff with a lovely selection of frames. I've never had a more positive experience glasses shopping.
Kevin, in particular, provided me with excellent service. I came in not knowing anything other than that I wanted glasses that fit me better than the Ray-Bans I had purchased a year ago at a Lenscrafters in Midtown. When I came back from my exam (quick and efficient!), he had a tray of glasses in a variety of styles that I genuinely liked all ready to go. I was extremely impressed with his ability to intuit the aesthetic I preferred from the little information I provided him. He also patiently and kindly answered all of my questions, provided extremely courteous and professional service, and clearly explained why my previous glasses didn't fit. He even adjusted my Ray-Bans for me (for free!) despite not purchasing them at MK2 so I wouldn't have to go out the door with ill-fitting glasses until I could pick up my new set. Not only that, but after I explained I needed the glasses as soon as possible, Kevin expedited the process to only a 4 business day turnaround.
Can't recommend MK2 enough (especially if you're looking for Asian-fit glasses)! And if you go, see if Kevin is working to help you find the best pair for you!
PS -- Kevin, thanks for helping me find these awesome DITA glasses that look totally cool and sci-fi in just...
Read moreI don't usually write reviews unless my experience falls between either extreme of the spectrum and even then, it's rare. I've been with MK2 Optical for many years now and although I have't seen them in a few, I recently returned to just as amazing service as I can remember and even better.
I was assisted by Andy, who immediately added me to the schedule as a walk-in with no issues. He was extremely helpful and patient, aiding me in choosing a high-caliber frame to my liking, as well as one that was fitting.
When I have a strong opinion, decisions take no time. However, this time I had difficulty choosing as there weren't any frames I was set on initially. Knowing I'm investing in a pair of quality, long-lasting glasses, I wanted to make sure it was one I wouldnt't leave regretting later on. Poor workers sat there watching me try on glasses fifty times over haha.. I felt so bad, but they were still so patient, polite and friendly, giving me advice and tips on what would work best.
The optometrist that saw me was also very professional and knowledgable. She answered all of my questions and provided such a flowing, smooth experience.
I also requested for my order to be changed after the service to not include the blue light coating. Andy and Kenneth immediately helped me call up the lab and changed my lens for me- extremely grateful as I felt happy knowing I'd be paying for exactly what I wanted in the end.
MK2 Optical's service is incredibly reliable. Highly, highly recommend and I...
Read moreOne of the worst eyewear stores in Chinatown. They don't really care if you get the most benefit from the expensive progressive lenses. They just want to get you something, take your money and that's it. They think most people wouldn't know much about progressive anyway. They would tell you it can't be redone if you don't feel comfortable, unless the exam degrees are wrong. You can't change models or corridor lengths. The fact is, it takes time to call the lens vendors for redo, and they don't make additional money for the extra work, so they would say it can't be done, while most stores can. And in fact, if you call the insurance company, they would tell you that it can be replaced once. All the staff there are just lazy and don't want to do anything for you that don't make extra money. There used to be an honest and hard working staff there who would go the extra mile but they fired him. Other staff there would also just give incorrect info about lens and coatings but said that guy was inexperience. But if you go ask other stores the same questions, you will know who is telling the truth. I guess honest people don't fit their culture so they have to fire him. This store is a chain with different names in Chinatown. Mott Street Optical on Mott street is another store of the same chain. They all work that way. I would stay...
