I came here on vacation to get my gel x nails removed. I was already missing 3 nails since they were an old set. I called, was quoted $20. When I arrived, the lady looked at them and said $30. I told her I was quoted $20 and she said ok. We sat and she started to cut my nails and starts speaking with a very disrespectful tone that I had hard gel and not gel x. First of all, I have been getting gel x for years. I have NEVER gotten hard gel, because I prefer the uniformity of the tips. She kept insisting as if I was lying. Then she starts acting annoyed while she’s clipping them off, and tell me it’s going to be $30. I asked why, and she said because it’s hard gel not gel x. She was incredibly rude. The tech next to me explained it would cost more if it’s hard gel because they’re harder to take off. I told her that I understood, but that they weren’t gel x. At this point the tech working on me was frustrated and muttering rudely to herself. The other techs tried to apologize and said they’d honor the $20 quote, I told them the tech was incredibly rude and for that reason I was leaving. I have never left an establishment that way. Visited this establishment for a gel pedicure. There were a few things I didn’t like. First, my technician wasn’t the friendliest and while removing my old gel polish with a drill, she made one of my cuticles bleed. Second, they have a discount for cash prices, which is fine. The thing that irked me was they had an ATM and it only allows you to withdraw $20. Therefore, I had to pay the upcharge to use my credit card. It would have been nice to have a sign or be told I could only withdraw $20. About $70 for a gel pedicure when paying with a card. I found Onni Nails while on a trip to NYC. They were conveniently located near my accommodations. I made an appointment but you can also walk-in. I was thoroughly impressed with my experience! My manicurist paid meticulous attention to her craft. I’ve never had such clean, healthy cuticles! Their offerings include mani/15 minute massage bundles, which I purchased. Excellent massage! Definitely destroyed most of my tension! Plus, they take 10% off services if you pay cash. I don’t get to Midtown often but I will return to Onni Nails the next...
