TLDR: long wait time and burnt hair
I came to this salon quite a while ago to get a hair cut to refresh the ends of my long hair. I specifically booked Mustafa cause I saw him on instagram and they confirmed on the phone he has a lot of experience with long hair. I came about 10 minutes before my appointment, but was asked to wait because he “squeezed in” his friend, which ended up making my wait almost 1 hour-long. When I told them I can’t wait anymore, they decided to sit me in a chair and Mustafa’s assistant washed my hair.
When Mustafa came up to me, I explained that I only had a few hair stylists previously in different cities, I was their client for years. It took a lot for me to trust a person with my hair. He brushed my hair, then started complaining that he can’t cut my hair while I’m sitting down cause it’s too long. He joked about “too long” with others in the salon which is unprofessional. After that, he told me to stand up. I’ve had long hair for most of my life and never before have I been asked to stand up for a haircut. He spent maybe 10 minutes on my hair, at most. He then called his assistant back and told her to style and blow dry my hair.
She was trying her best, apologizing many times, but it was a mess. She was trying to add waves to the bottom of my hair. After a while, I started to smell burnt hair and it was horrible. I was very upset. What did Mustafa do while she was trying to style my hair for 30 minutes and burn it in the process? He was walking and chatting with others, posting on instagram, lying in a chair behind me. He finally decided to check back and “fix” the styling, but the damage to my hair was already done.
I left the salon feeling the smell of my burnt hair and nothing else. I went to a park nearby to get fresh air cause I couldn’t take the burnt hair smell anymore. I washed my head as soon as I got home getting rid of the styling which ruined my hair. I trusted Mustafa to care for my long hair which I cherish and he was more busy with instagram clients and laughing at posts instead of the client he had in the salon. It took months of intense care to bring back the shine to my hair. I will never recommend this place to anyone. Mustafa’s complete disregard towards a client who openly expressed how important it was to trust a hair stylist is astonishing.
The assistant was very nice and was there to learn. She tried her best, but she was not experienced. I understand that, but if he was there to teach, he should have paid...
Read moreI am absolutely in love with my hair right now! I found Edona through Salon Apprentice and loved her work on Instagram. I contacted her and was able to schedule an appointment on the spot. I showed her my hair situation at the time, which was virgin black hair except for some leftover brown balayage from 2 years ago. I showed her what I wanted, which was essentially a cool-toned bronde balayage, and she told me that it was possible to achieve such a transformation in one session, but we would be in the chair for at least 4 hours. I appreciated that, because I knew that meant she is determined to take her time with making sure the blend was as perfect as possible.
We definitely exceeded 4 hours. In fact, I was there for 8 hours in total. However, the results were 100% worth it. Edona took her time with every step of the process while also explaining what she was doing and how it would help the transformation. It was impressive how she was so meticulous with painting every single strand of hair.
Edona also did a wonderful job working with me when I expressed that the first color she gave me was too light of a blonde for my taste. It was a beautiful color, but I just felt it wasn't "me". With no problem, Edona gave me another session of toning, and the second time around was JUST what I was looking for! It was absolutely gorgeous, and my hair felt soft and great, with no damage! She truly worked her magic!
Salon Lexington in general was also a great place. It was sleek and clean, and the rest of the stylists were also quite friendly and warm. I absolutely recommend this salon and especially Edona for anyone who is looking for a hair transformation, or anything hair...
Read moreEdona…the one and only hairstylist I can trust with my hair. I first came to her after a horrible hair coloring done at another salon. She had no problem telling me she could fix it but she honestly told me we could not do what I wanted at the moment because she did not want to damage or burn my hair. She said we would take care of it and within 6 months we could achieve a better look! (1st picture is the 1st fix up) I gave myself about a year to come to her for bleaching. I had long heavy toned out color and I just needed her to work her magic. She took all day with me but never rushed any part of the process. I appreciated that because I left with the most fluffiest and healthy feeling hair even after bleach. I wanted a some type of brown, but we started off with an ashy color. It was different for me but I wanted to try something new. Im still getting used to this color but I know that if I wanted to go honey brown she would make it happen without a problem. Plan is to grow out my hair again and do long back layers. Right now, just wanted to neutralize my hair dimensions and she did just that. Honestly, Im mostly pleased and super thankful for the fact that my hair feels so healthy and nothing was rushed. I’ve definitely gave her work but she worked through it! (Final result 2nd pic)...
