The Sarah Gaugler Experience : I came across Sarah when I was researching artists who have worked with Baybayin & were unique artists. I found her on Instagram and was drawn to her work. I also preferred a female artist who I could trust and relate to. Sarah culminated all of the above.

Patricia, her assistant, was very responsive and was able to find me a date relatively quickly despite Sarah’s booked schedule. From the moment you walk into the studio, behind the black unmarked door, with a simple sign that says “appointments only”, I felt welcomed.

The white private studio was very chill, chandelier overhead, Buddha snow globe patiently smiling at you while you have a seat on her couch, and some music playing in the background. Sarah was amazing, she was able to tie all my ideas together to create a beautiful ohm/lotus/Baybayin script on my shoulder. I did not feel rushed at all. She took her time designing the unique piece. The energy in the room was positive, we connected, laughed, and told stories of our backgrounds. Sarah is very warm and inviting, her creativity and talent is beyond amazing... By the time she started tattooing, she was like a surgeon, she made sure to prep you and make sure the area was sterile, then she worked with utmost precision, paying attention to the minute details. The tattoo session was not rushed and she made sure I was comfortable. The setting was intimate and felt like a meditation session. She was vibing off all the positive energy in the room to channel it into the beautiful creation on my shoulder. I did not look until the piece was completely finished. The anticipation brought me back to when I was little, restless to go to sleep on Christmas Eve, nervous & giddy. When I saw the finished piece, my heart was overjoyed, just like opening presents on Christmas morning.

My experience at Snow Tattoo was absolutely wonderful. Sarah puts an unbelievable amount of care into every step of the process, which I really appreciated since it was my first time getting a tattoo. I was with a friend to get matching ones done, as well as another personal piece for myself.

Here, it’s about more than making and applying artwork. It involves a lot of creativity and philosophy. My passion is tinkering and collaboration, which were taken to new heights as we talked about the meanings and themes of how my friend and I wanted our tattoos to look, what we wanted them to say, and how we arrived there. It was never overwhelming or unbalanced.

Getting the tattoos themselves also went smoothly. I could tell that cleanliness and safety were top priorities. My weird little coping mechanism of analyzing the ouchies away was treated very kindly.

All throughout the session, infusing everything else was this energy of joy and positivity. At the end, it was a beautiful feedback loop of everyone in the room going “That looks amazing!! So good! I know! I love it! It looks pretty!!”

I first found Sarah Gauglers Instagram page @sarahgaugler, through a friend of mine.  I admired her work and art from afar and followed her page for about a year before setting up my first appointment.  I had a very meaningful tattoo in mind in memory of my grandmother and was looking for an artist who would not only understand its importance to me but was skillful with delicate detail.  When I first set up my appointment, I was impressed with how professional her business was run, how clean and sterile the environment was and the beauty and privacy the studio provided.   Before starting the piece, Sarah spent time to get to know the person I am, and the meaning behind the tattoo that I wanted. She is genuine, whole hearted, insightful and kind and helped me create a vision for this piece of art that was so precious and important to me. Her technique is unique and gentle and the tattoo that I got from her as well as subsequent ones did not hurt as I expected. After my first experience, I knew I found the right tattoo artist for me and since have returned many times to complete the rest of the work I envisioned getting done.
