Training at this school has been such an amazing experience! Every training session pushes and expands my capabilities and boundaries to a level I didn’t know existed before. The motivation and energy that the instructors have in teaching their students is inspiring and invigorating. I find that I’m constantly challenged to refine and develop my skills, all the while exceeding my fitness goals. Nothing goes unrecognized by these instructors; be it a nuanced improvement in technique, an improvement in stamina, or even a look on your face because you had a stressful day at work. The instructors pay attention and genuinely care. The head instructor “Sensei Lyman Good”, is a professional mixed martial artist, and a total savage, yet in spite of how savage he is in the cage, he is the kindest, most patient, and warmest person you’ll ever know that teaches you how to technically and effectively defend yourself in a self defense situation! Instructor Lindell is an extremely personable, professional, knowledgeable and motivating instructor that demonstrates an unbiased desire to make you the best version of you that you can possibly be! This school is a beautiful, clean, modern, comfortable and welcoming place to train in martial arts. The facility exudes energy and positivity. P.S. if you’re intimidated by the fact that the head instructor and owner is a professional UFC fighter, don’t be. This place is whatever you need it to be. It’s a place to learn a skill set; a place to learn self defense; a place to get in shape; a place to shed your stress; a place to cope with grief; a place to let it all out! If you’re intimidated by the parking, don’t be. Parking isn’t bad. There’s always parking a couple blocks away at worst. IE: 19th street. But then again, walking a couple blocks is...
Read moreI began training about 5 months ago shortly after the school opened. As a workout enthusiast and avid mma fan, I'm always looking for a new challenge, and Tiger Schulmann's MMA Chelsea is just that. Plain and simple, I could not stand to look at the same 4 walls at a gym anymore and those cardio-kickboxing classes focus too much on intensity with the lack of form, which often leads to injury.
From the time you walk in, to the moment you leave, students and instructors alike treat you with nothing but kindness and respect. The curriculum changes weekly so there is always a new tip, technique or exercise to expand upon your knowledge and improve skill.
But the highlight of my entire experience is the privilege of learning from a current world champion (with the belt sitting right on the front desk to prove it!!!) Sensei Lyman Good is skilled, intelligent and a ferocious competitor, yet remains one of the most humble human beings you'll ever meet. He is not some fancy, hot shot cocky instructor who teaches random classes to advanced students only at random times. He teaches ALL the classes. Sensei Good has a skill to teach and motivate all his students to maximize gains and potential in a safe and comfortable environment.
As a healthcare professional promoting fitness and wellness, I've never felt so good about my own health. As a New Yorker living in a dangerous city, I've never walked around with more confidence about my personal safety.
When my friends ask me about my experience at Tiger Schulmann's MMA, I always respond, "it's the best hour of my day". Honestly, I've never once dreaded going to training, All day, I'm looking...
Read moreJoshu Juan,
My wife and I want to thank you for all that you’ve taught our daughter this past year.
I don’t know if you remember, but we came to Tiger Schulmann at a difficult moment for her and us.
At the time, she was being bullied by a couple of girls at school. In coming to you, we hoped she would learn to stand up for herself and defend herself, when necessary.
She learned that and more, and had fun each and every time she came to class.
Some days you worked her hard. Other days she played hard. It all worked great and kept her coming and interested and learning.
Achieving her high white belt was a really great moment for her and us. She was incredibly proud of that. We were, too. It was great to share that with her.
Attaining her high white belt also helped to reinforce the philosophy you instill in the kids every week. Commitment. Focus. Effort. Today’s message was about good things happening to good people. More good stuff.
It all matters, it all helps, and, as parents, we know it’s important that she hears those things from people who aren’t us. The reinforcement of those values is irreplaceable as we try to raise her to be a good person in a difficult world.
Our daughter has grown up a ton this year and a bunch of it is because of you and what she learned and practiced in her time at Ninja Class (that’s what we call it ;).
We aren’t sad to be moving, but we are sad that our little girl won’t be able to attend your classes anymore. You were great.
So, thank you for everything. We appreciate it all from the bottom of our hearts.
All the best to you...
