First of all, I think I have been cheated and I will explain why. I had a lot of good quality clothes with trendy fashion styles. I meticulously took each item I had and made sure I was selling clothes that were not worn out and were quality. I took all my worn out clothes and donated them to DI meaning I expected to get at least a $100 -$200 dollars from the items I brought to sell. I came there with a high expectation because it was recommended by a friend. I came with two big bags I could not carry and waited for 45 minutes for my clothes to be sorted out. I received a text to come in only to be told to wait for another 15 minutes for my stuff to be checked making it an hour I have already spent. The lady checking the clothes came back and told me out of the two big bags I brought I only had 2 items taken and I was going to be given $6. I was really mad and I think I was cheated. She told me it was because most of my items were 2021 and below and they only took items that were 2021 to 2024. This was a lie because some of the things I sold were literally bought last year and some last two years. There were two shoes I bought last year that I only wore twice and so if you tell me most of the items I brought were 2021 and below then lady you're lying. None of the staff told me about this when I called for inquiries why tell me that at the counter when it was already too late to take my stuff back? What happens to my two bags brought then? donations? Hell NO! I know you guys are going to sell them for the full price and claim your store is a thrift store. I always wondered how thrift stores made money and now I understand, by stealing from the customers. I would have made a ton of money if I sold my items on Facebook market or elsewhere. It is not a thrift store to me seeing that the items sold there were sold expensive with no item below $12. Some items I have definitely seen on SHEIN and TEMU cheaper than the thrift store. I have learned a great lesson and will definitely not recommend anyone or ever sell my stuff there. Thanks for the awful...
Read moreMy wife and I did some mass wardrobe organization and ended up with a black garbage bag full of clothes we felt like we didn't need anymore along with about four pairs of shoes. We did not get rid of the items because they were worn out, anything that we considered to be worn out either was brought to the DI or recycled.
After this organization, and based on knowledge accrued after multiple trips shopping and selling at this specific store, we assumed that at least half of everything we sold to Uptown cheapskate would be accepted (we brought about 20 items including shoes). We were on a time crunch so we opted to leave the bag there, waiving the ability to keep any of our items.
I just went to pick up the cash that we were given, and they only accepted 4 items, and gave us $20. This was frustrating because of how mindfully we selected the clothes to sell (good brands, not worn out, etc.). Since we left the bag there, we can't really dispute this, which we were told beforehand.
Frankly, I'm not angry, my expectations were just shattered, especially when they shamelessly sell things from Shein and Van Heusen that are as cheap as it gets. We brought nice, quality clothing, made of good material that any experienced vintage/thrift store would gladly put on their racks.
This is the risk you take coming to this store. Your clothing will be evaluated by young adults who don't always have the tools, knowledge, or time to make educated decisions on the items you bring in.
If you have the time and you want to sell some of your good apparel that holds up, use Poshmark or a booth style thrift store. If you don't, take the drive to Iconoclad or any respectable vintage store and get 50% on what you sell. If you opt to not do either of those things, go to Uptown Cheapskate with the understanding that you will likely be disappointed.
I won't be selling here again...
