FRAMING CUSTOMERS BEWARE!
I had a horrendous experience with one of the custom framers (named Shannon) at this store. She was extremely rude, disrespectful, and derogatory. Despite my pleasant and positive attitude, Shannon was absolutely impossible to work with. I have never been treated so poorly by an employee in my entire life. I ended up having to walk out of the store, and the company lost a significant amount of business. The specific details of my experience are below. If you are looking to have custom framing done, I highly recommend that you chose another store in town. Good luck!
I had a horrendous experience at the Michaels in West Palmdale on 2/21/25. I first called Michaels around 11:00 a.m. in order to make sure that the 70% off custom framing sale was still going on and that a framer would be available approximately 30 minutes later. I was then transferred to the framer (Shannon) and she was very standoffish and made me feel as though my questions were stupid. Nevertheless, I decided to give her the benefit of the doubt.
Approximately 30 to 40 minutes later I arrived at the store. My plan was to make a memorial shadow box for my dog who recently passed away. I also had a piece of artwork from a magic show that I was hoping to get framed as well. Upon entering the store, I grabbed a cart in hopes of bringing that back to my car to load all of my framing items. The cart unfortunately did not fit through the exit door, and I asked the cashier if I was allowed to bring it out to my car. I was told no, which was fine albeit a bit frustrating. I asked if the cashier would then be willing to watch my items as I brought them in, for I had three to four trips to my vehicle to obtain all of the framing materials. The cashier was relatively friendly when I brought in a shadow box from my previous pet that I wanted to use as an example into the store. It was too big to fit in the cart, so I nicely asked the cashier if I could place the items on the checkout desk, and she agreed. While I made my remaining trips to the vehicle, the cashier was pleasant and cordial. I then let her know that I had one more trip left and that I might need some assistance from a sales associate to help me get everything back to the framing area.
When I came back into the store there was another individual standing near my items. She did not greet me. Unbeknownst to me at the time, it was the framer, Shannon. I walked up to the items to finish making my pile and Shannon followed me. She huffed and puffed and rolled her eyes when she saw one of the artwork pieces that was from a magic show. She then picked up a few items and I said, "Oh, are you going to carry those for me?" She responded gruffly and made a rude remark. I then said, "Well okay, thank you." We then walked back to the framing desk and there was approximately three different counters/registers with which to do the custom framing. I asked the associate nicely where she would like me to go and she rudely said "THE COUNTER!" She was intentionally vague. So, I put my things down and replied, "Hey, I would really like this to be a pleasant experience." Shannon immediately got defensive and meanly said, "Well, you were the one that was rude to the cashier in the front." I then said, "Excuse Me? You just lost my business." At that point, I was very frustrated, for I had been nothing but polite and friendly the entire time.
I immediately informed two different managers about my experience, and the lead manager was apologetic and informed me that she would have a conversation with Shannon. I hope that is the case, for no customer deserves to be...
Read moreThe staff here were amazing. There was a storm coming up and naturally some customers were on edge . I came with a few others but didn't get anything so I waited by the checkout. I observed a few customers taking out their irritability with the storm on the employees. One in particular swore at this employee, walked out mid return, just appalling customer behavior. The employee handled it with absolute grace and calm. When. The next customer walked up, you could not tell she had just dealt with a rude person, she remained professional and made sure the customers had the best experience.
The only reason I gave 4 and not five stars was due to stock. There were lots of paints/paper craft, toys, yarn. But even then variety was not the best. I tried looking for candle supplies, specifically candle dye. Unfortunately they did not...
Read moreI've never been until Michaels until today and I must say that this was beyond my expectations of an arts and craft store. This is another one of those stores where once you get in and go and try and get the stuff that you came in for you end up finding stuff that you didn't even know you needed. This can be very dangerous for a person who's a Shopaholic so beware. But all in all a very great store and it has very friendly stuff this far as this location and they definitely have a lot of discounts and Deals when you get stuff in bulk so definitely be on the lookout for 50% off signs and buy one get one free signs. I ended up walking out with a whole beanie...
