Is the store cool? I suppose. The selection isnāt great but what do you expect in a small shop. Whatās lousy is the business ethic. Among other books, we purchased a nice coffee table book based on the cover and a looking at a few pages. Once home that evening, we sat with it and saw the binding was completely separated between the front cover and the first page. I didnāt take it back the next day bc we were skiing. So the following day I took it back and was basically accused of having torn it myself. The manager took a completely antagonistic stance saying to me āitās been in your possession for 48 hours. I canāt know that you didnāt cause this. We preview all our books for damage when they come in.ā I couldnāt believe that was her answer. Either thatās just a reflection of who she is as a person, which I guess isnāt the storeās fault (aside from giving her that position) or itās the storeās policy and she has to take that stance. Either way, buyer beware. Whatās apparently lost on her are two basic facts:
Iāve always loved Dollyās bookstore, itās always really neat to pick out something special and see the cats if youāre lucky. I took the four-year-old twin boys that I nanny in there today, we drove 30 minutes, hoping to see the cats, and they both wanted a book, which they chose w/ enthusiasm. But when we asked the gal near the back of the shop where the cats might be, she was dismissive, off-putting and, quite frankly, rude to the four-year-old, who was Innocently inquiring. Anyway, the man that was working the counter upfront, who said he worked there part time, and only for a few months⦠upon mentioning the cats to him, he told us a couple of funny stories, and was very kind to all three of us. The gal that was working in the back was too busy fumbling with her water bottle and very dismissive of a sweet little boy asking a simple question. Kids LOVE your store,...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI pre-ordered a book months in advanced which was to be signed by the author. I expected it to be delivered on release date especially since I paid $13 for fast shipping. I find out on release date that the book will not be delivered for 4 more days. I sent a complaint email. Then manager Michaela stating ā We're so sorry you're upset with the delivery times. But I would advise you to take this up with Simon & Schuster, the publishing house.ā This was a very ridiculous response, and borderline rude. I did not buy the book from the publisher. I bought it from this store.Take responsibility for your own failings, and YOU complain to the publisher that their response times created a problem for you. Thatās not my responsibility.
Have bought from this store before, but will...
