I've been a probably three times to the Tarahumara. I'll preface this visit by saying that my previous experiences would have been closer to the four star range. This last time though, there were many fewer options for salsa (probably only about 8 or so, which might sound good, but compared with the nearly 30 options that they have had previously wasn't so good). To me, the salsa bar is what makes this place, or maybe made this place, special and fun. My next problem with this visit was the service and mistakes. We were given a water cup that hadn't been cleaned properly. When we pointed this out to our waitress, she apologized and took it... but then never came back with a replacement cup. It was just generally a problem that we weren't checked up on much. We also ordered some extra refried beans, but then they gave us black beans instead. We thought we might have been partially to blame (maybe we had just said "beans" instead of refried beans or something), so I didn't make a big deal about it. However, when we got our receipt, it did clearly state an order of refried beans. The food was good, we got a carne asada burrito and a carnitas burrito, however, the beans and rice portions that went with then were a little sad (size, not taste), and the guacamole and sour cream that came with them were so small that my wife didn't even notice that any sour cream came with hers! Bottom line: good food, but too pricey (~$15/plate) for the small portions and lack of the "flair" that had made them stand...
Read moreMy kids insisted upon Mexican in place of our Taco Tuesday family tradition since we were vacationing. After reading the mixed reviews we decided to take the plunge and give this place a try. Here's my quick & dirty breakdown of the establishment:
PROS: The food was reasonably priced (a rare quality in the Park City area). The food was good (not great) and the serving sizes were ample considering the low cost. The complimentary chips and salsa were a highlight for us and the salsa was flavorful but not overly spicey (very kid friendly for our 8 & 5 year olds). Finally, THEY HAD REAL COCA-COLA IN A GLASS BOTTLE!!!
CONS: The cashier was not the friendliest and seemed put out that she had to take time away from her phone to ring us up. There were dishes piled high in the bus bin but not a single soul other than us at the restaurant for a 5 PM dinner (which indicates to me that they'd been sitting there since lunch). Finally, they did not have fresh jalapeños for purchase.
We'd visit again for a quick meal and would recommend friends/family...
Read moreI ordered the two tacos lunch special on grub hub thinking an available restaurant on grub hub would have delivery, ordering is seamless and easy but the confirmation page said it would be ready for pickup in 30 min. I contacted grub hub through chat to confirm that my order was for pickup and indeed it was. Sadly since they had already started cooking my order it couldn’t be canceled. This begs the question why is this restaurant listed on grub hub (a delivery service) and delivery isn’t available?? Received a text that my food was ready and I arrived 5 minutes after receiving the text then went back to work to eat. Total of 15 minutes had gone by and my tacos were cold and the tacos themselves were tiny with almost no garnish. The carne asada were chard tiny bits of what I can only assume is beef and tasted like cardboard. I hate to be one of those guys but you’d be better off going to Taco Bell as you’ll get more flavor and a more...
