I’ve always had apprehension going to a white salon because I felt they wouldn’t know how to meet my needs.

But when I met a black woman who worked in a white salon space, I felt a bit more comfortable thinking that surely she could care for my needs as mine would be similar to hers.

To my disappointment that wasn’t the case. I went in for a full head of highlights with Demi permanent color. I absolutely did not want to bleach my hair. I expressed this to her and sent photo inspiration upon her request.

I get to the appointment and she washes my hair and proceeds to put the color on. Previously with Demi permanent color I was blown dry to ensure root to tip were tended to.

We move into the unfoiling and my hair color has very little to no change whatsoever. My hair looks more ashy and less dark… the color was rust with lighter bits in a metallic blonde. None of that showed up.

I have minimal patches of reddish tint and the style came out in an undesirable fashion.

I humbly expressed disappointment throughout the entire appointment and my stylist was very sincere in her apathy around not being able to yield the results desired. They offered to comp my appointment, and the owner offered to fix the issue, but after 6 hours I wasn’t going to let them not charge me. So I paid it and left a tip. A free service wouldn’t change my review.

But this is why inclusion and diversity are important. So you don’t leave with disappointment...

My hair stylist was amazing - incredibly kind and did a wonderful job. My issue was that the prices on the website do not at all reflect how much the service costs. I tried to get an amount before my appointment and was told by the owner that he wasn't sure how much it would be. Based on the website prices, my full highlight and haircut should've been about $200 but when I went to check out I was charged well over $400 (not including tip) and was scoffed at when I questioned it. Again, my stylist was wonderful and did a great job but pricing is extremely unclear and I was charged much more than I could...

I stopped by here for a last minute haircut. The owner (Charlie) greeted me even though they were closed and promised to fit me in the next day, which he did! The atmosphere was so welcoming; everyone was so nice and awesome to talk to. Allison cut my hair and she took the time to really listen and understand the style I wanted. It was so much more than just a great haircut; the whole experience truly made my day....
