TLDR: If I want a habitually late braider who brings her man to an appointment and doesn’t provide hair for styles, never communicated that I needed to bring hair to an appointment and keeps my deposit because I didn’t bring hair for the appointment, I would get my hair done at somebody’s home, not a salon.

I had two frustrating experiences with the braider at this business. My first appointment was scheduled for 3 pm, but despite arriving early, I wasn’t seated until 5 pm. While I received a $10 discount for the two-hour delay, I’m deducting stars for each hour of lateness, as the policy states I would’ve forfeited my deposit ($25) if I had been that late. The braids themselves were well done, but I’m also deducting a star for being charged $30 for an undercut that was uneven due to poor-quality clippers, which I had to pay to get fixed elsewhere. This is important for later – the braider provided the hair for this service and there’s no posted policy nor was there ever a discussion that clients are to provide their own hair.

My second appointment was for a crochet style, scheduled early to accommodate my other commitments and avoid the heat as I bike everywhere. That morning, she texted to ask if we could push the appointment back 30 minutes. This habitual lateness is unprofessional, especially when deposits are required to book. When she arrived, she brought a man who didn’t work there, making me uncomfortable. This defeated the purpose of choosing a salon over a home service. Once inside, she asked where my hair was, even though she hadn’t told me to bring any. I had to bike to multiple beauty supply stores in 2 different neighborhoods, wasting time and getting drenched in sweat, only to find that none had the right hair. Frustrated, I asked to reschedule, but the new dates didn’t work, and they refused to refund my deposit, blaming me for not bringing hair, despite the lack of communication. These issues could’ve been avoided with better professionalism and clarity, so I’m leaving a 1-star review for...

Loved my experience here! Elisa was excellent. I came in for a wash and straight back cornrows to put under my wig (since I recently injured my hand and have been unable to do my hair.) Elisa did such an amazing job I asked her not to tuck them so I could wear them out of the salon! I have never thought I looked feminine or pretty in cornrows, but Elisa totally changed my mind about that. The braids were silky, tight, and the perfect size. She was gentle, the braiding never hurt, and she was fast. Lastly, I love that it's just her in the salon. It made the appointment feel like a private booking, which gave a more exclusive vibe. When I tell you Elisa is the best, I truly mean it! She’s the hairstylist and owner of God’s Kreative Hands, and she made my whole experience amazing. I went in a little anxious since my past salon experiences haven’t always been great, but Elisa immediately put me at ease with her warm personality and positive energy. The salon was peaceful (minus me yapping, lol), the music was great, and her skills are top-tier. It was such a great vibe overall, and I’m so grateful!
