Do you like horror, but scanning through standard bookstores' singular horror shelf dominated by Stephen King is uninspiring at best? Go here. Even if you don't care about HPL (cannot relate, but to each their own), the staff are friendly, knowledgeable, and will give expert recommendations about the store's diverse and excellently chosen stock of weird, fringe, experimental horror, along with related history, science, science fiction, and fantasy. I walked away with one of the most disturbing books I have ever read and I am very, very happy. I've never before been in a bookstore whose selection felt specifically tailored for me, and it was a wonderful, once in a lifetime experience. However, even if you are not, like me, the target audience, anyone looking for something new in horror or sci-fi has something to love here, and the staff would be happy to show you....

Awesome piece of the Providence experience. I've lived in Rhode island for my childhood and most of my adult life, and I can think of few places as intriguing as the providence arcade. Along with purportedly being one of the oldest indoor malls in the world, it houses unique charm and great atmosphere- of which Lovecraft Arts and Sciences is simply the tinsel on the tree! This novelty, gift and book store is located directly across from a great cafe, and from my experience, it's employees are positively steeped in knowledge of Providence's rich literary history, H.P. Lovecraft and the occult! I would recommend that any fan of cosmic horror make a pilgrimage to this store if they find themselves in...

An incredible book store, cannot recommend it highly enough.

I'm a Lovecraft geek while my partner has never read any of his work or other weird horror. I expected I would enjoy myself, maybe pick up another short story collection and my partner would hopefully not be too bored.

Not only did I get an excellent recommendation from a brief description of my interest in the genre, but my partner found a book on speculative astrobiology. Furthermore, seeing the astrobiology book, they shared fascinating collection of essays on marine biology that my partner also bought.

Friendly, thoughtful, queer-friendly and extremely knowledgeable staff running a non-profit bookstore. What more...

Really friendly staff and a decent selection of books, including books by Lovecraft, Hu is pretty much the feature of the downtown walking tour I will say, the book that I got had a very strong smell to it. I know that sounds odd, but it smelled like incense or weed or something. I eventually had to put it in a plastic bag and put that plastic bag in another bag because I was having a really bad reaction to it in the car on the way home. I’ve never had that happen at a bookstore. If you have strong allergies, you might wanna be careful. But everyone was super friendly and I appreciate it a little bit more history and context. They also had a walking map, which was really nice!

A fantastic bookstore located in Downtown Providence, catering to the horror and occult. While it's a small store, it's packed with books to delight any horror fan. They have an excellent selection of books and some tarot decks. The staff are friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful, which made the shopping experience wonderful. You can even ask for an H.P. Lovecraft sight-seeing map of Providence pinpointing buildings mentioned in his works or as sources of inspiration and locations he frequented. I highly recommend this bookstore to visitors of the area who are interested in Lovecraft or who want a different kind of book to enjoy.
