Eastside D&C has some of the kindest, most thoughtful pet store staff Iāve ever met. And Iām so grateful and want to say thank you for every kind word and every kind gesture that you have shown us (and there have been many).
Thank you for being so warm and welcoming, for always saying hi to anyone who comes in. Thank you for always offering my dog a treat and for always being so gracious about giving us the space we need when we ask. Thank you, thank you. You have no idea how much that means to us - to have a safe public space where we can just hang out and do our thing without worry.
I live in the area and often pass the store during daily walks with my nervous pup. Weāve been going in on and off to practice just being in public spaces, around people etc. And because sheās nervous and easily startled, I always have to ask the staff to leave us alone. And they always do - and always so kindly.
Today, we were there again and there was a couple who came in with their dog. Because they were standing between us and the exit, we couldnāt leave (my dog is also dog reactive). When one of the staff realized what was happening, she immediately took a treat and led the other dog and itās owners to another section of the store, clearing the way so that we could leave safely. I didnāt have a chance to say it, but I was very touched and very grateful that she was so thoughtful and kindly respected our needs even though weāre not in the āregular, friendly, easy dogā category.
Having a sensitive, reactive dog that struggles in so many situations that others take for granted can be difficult - especially when weāre in public. And it means a lot to us that there are people like the Eastside team whose little, everyday acts of kindness make us feel seen and supported. First let me say that the staff is really nice there. They were very sweet to my dog and offered a few treats to her which she happy ate!
Unfortunately, I went to buy a bag of dog food the other day and there were boxes and boxes of dog food sitting on the shelves from 2022!! That's over three and half years ago!
They must be selling this expired stuff or why would they be saving these bags/boxes and hiding them behind other bags of dog food?
After I found the expired food behind the dog food I was buying I looked behind other bags on other shelves and there was MORE expired food!!
How could a pet store keep expired food from over three years ago on their shelves? That means this food has to be over 5 years old because new dog food is usually good for two years before it expires. For this food to have expired three years ago means that this food had been in this store for over 5 years!!
What is even more crazy is that I walked to the end of the dog food aisle and there was an entire area with even more expired food!
Go to the store and look for yourself! It's unbelievable!
I bought my bag of dog food because I was desperate but only AFTER checking the date on it. I will NEVER shop here again!
This place is going to get sued because they are going to make someone's pet sick or dead! Whoever owns this store should be ashamed of themselves!

Iāve spent a good deal of money here, even got a ārewardsā account with them. However, anytime Iāve gone to return items, they seem to be inconsistent about what the return policy is and what items can even be returned. Iāve purchased multiple leashes and harnesses for my pup (and with the shop employeesā recommendations), only to find that Iāve been sold faulty product that wears down or breaks within a month or two. Theyāve only accommodated 2 returns of the maybe 4 Iāve attempted to make. Again, this is product being recommended to me by the employees so not only am I trusting their product knowledge, but itās also product they promise has guarantees/etc. So it comes as a surprise each time when Iām turned away for a return on product. Iād recommend just sticking with mudbay or all the best, as theyāre super knowledgeable, have great policies, and Iāve even gotten free product...
