My review is not about the classes but about the clubās unethical billing practices. They make it extremely hard to cancel your membership. I was on a 4 class a month membership. The credits do not carry over to the next month even for a single day. You also cannot schedule a class proactively until the new credits post to your account, which also is really inconvenient because the classes fill up really quickly. When I wanted a credit adjustment and called them and left voice messages, but they didnāt call back until I visited the center and complained about not receiving a call back to an instructor. When I asked them to cancel the membership, they suggested that I pause my membership for now, and mentioned that I could think over and cancel anytime by sending them an email. Wrong!! I could not cancel my membership when it was paused. I had to wait until the membership was active again and one billing completed in order to cancel. Then I had to call again, to find out the email address that I had to send a written notice to, to cancel my membership. You cannot do it over the phone and that email is not published anywhere on their website. They again didnāt answer and didnāt call back. I had to go over to their center and ask for that information. Finally sent the letter and they responded graciously that my membership will be canceled. After a couple months, I saw a charge on my credit card that it was billed for two months since my cancellation. My instant response was to dispute the charge. I did that, then emailed back their billing email, that I had been charged. They refunded the charge, but now want to penalize me for reporting to the credit card company. They want to charge me the chargeback fees of $25 for reporting to the credit card company. All in all, be completely sure that you will not be canceling your membership when you join this club Pilates. After you cancel your membership, stay vigilant and monitor your credit card charges. The instructors are great though, their billing...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI drove by the Woodinville Club Pilates for a couple of years thinking that I should really check them out. I had some amateur experience with Pilates over a dozen years ago when a masseuse friend needed to get hours for her certification and gave me cheap classes and had enjoyed it.
When I finally signed up, I ended up going with the Redmond location due to proximity to my work. I actually didnāt even know it was there on Redmond Way next to Trader Joeās. But Iām so glad I chose this location.
Itās been a few months now and I love it. The staff is kind, the instructors Iāve learned under (Tae, Jim, Grace, Helen) have been wonderful but also very different in the best of ways.
But as much as I appreciate all their instructors, in my opinion, Jim is the rockstar of Club Pilates Redmond. Is it his stories and ādad jokesā? Sure. Is it the hip playlists he assembles filled with amazing music from the last forty years (lots of obscure covers and so much more). Of course. But itās really that he has the heart of a teacher and cares so much about the education, safety and growth of his students. Iām almost hesitant to say this as I donāt want wait list for his classes to balloon if word gets out, but I canāt deny the praise he deserves.
Oh and I should add- Iām male, and itās rare that there may be one other guy in classes with me, and Iām pretty sure the ones Iāve seen are all there with other women. Iām not sure why this is (other than the smarter of the species knowing whatās up!) Pilates is such an amazing core strengthener, and at age 51 my legs and abs are more ripped and defined then theyāve ever been. Even if you are a gym rat (which I am not), these workouts will give you a run for your money and be so beneficial to your other physical efforts. Or if you arenāt in the greatest of shape (see above re: āage 51ā not to mention a propensity for burgers and wine), this will be so beneficial to your physical health and well being that you will be doing your future self such a...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI have really enjoyed Club Pilates Redmond. Each instructor has their own style, and they are all great in different ways!
Kenda's expertise shows in her routines and her focus on aging well with strong hips & pelvic floor. Her energy is contagious and motivates me to push myself. She always remembers my name and works hard to build community in her classes. I especially appreciate her commitment to having everyone work as a team to have the studio in perfect condition for the next class.
Grace has a calm presence. She is clear, precise & consistent in a way that if you are a good listener, you never have to look up to see how to do a move or know where your feet need to be etc. The muscles that she focused on in class talk to me for two days after... this is good!
Vanessa is so intentional in her practice of Pilates. Each move and breath is thought out for the best possible outcome. Her practice is truly body, mind, and spirit.
Helen is a gifted motivator! She challenges you to challenge yourself and gives great reminders about breathing, which I appreciate because I often find myself holding my breath. She cares about your outcomes and encourages you to excel in her classes as well as your time away from the studio. Not to mention, she's funny!
The crew that works the front desk and behind the scenes are helpful in so many ways, but mostly in always making you feel welcome!
Thank you, Team Redmond, for teaching me the practice of Pilates, the different styles, and for helping me to continually get stronger...
