
I normally don't review too many places but without a doubt this was the worst experience I've ever had with any establishment. I wish I could rate them lower. I used to work out here on my own which was okay... the bathrooms were always dirty and the showers often had gum and poop in them and no one's cleaned that sauna in forever... but I didn't mind. Seeing that they had a free fitness assessment I felt compelled to check it out. I got the assessment and then they pitched the personal training. PERSONAL TRAINING HERE IS A JOKE AND A SCAM. THEY ARE ONLY TRYING TO MAKE MONEY FOR THEMSELVES AND DON'T CARE ABOUT CLIENTS. I had to wait a week to get with my personal trainer, Alex W, and started working out with him. He did a good job and I was starting to enjoy it. HOWEVER THE PERSONAL TRAINER MANAGER THEO constantly would get in verbal arguments with Alex saying he doesn't know what he was doing. He would make remarks constantly to me about him asking what I thought of him and fishing. I woke up one morning to a text from Alex saying that he apologized for how it would affect me but he has decided to leave LA fitness. Coming in that morning I looked around and saw there was no personal trainer for me I approached Theo who then said that Alex was a piece of c* for leaving like he did and needed to grow the f* up and continued to talk about him for the next 30 minutes. He assured me that I would have a trainer by the next session or the session after. 8 sessions later I finally got another personal trainer. During the whole time I was being trained the trainer always seemed uncomfortable due to something that Theo had been doing or did before. After only 2 weeks with him he quit as well. After a skipped session by the trainers I was then put with rudy. He was attentive and stuck with me most of the time and only occasionally didn't show. He however had major problems with Theo again. See a pattern here? He would constantly be upset and he honestly hardly was ever able to train me to the best of his ability because of his manager. Theo the entire time was trying to get me to switch from Rudy to another trainer at a different time but I refused multiple times. On top of it Theo would make comments like I was fat and needed to lay off the beers and rub my belly and say I was wasting my own money. Then Rudy decided to quit as well without any notice. I had enough and sent a letter into their corporate office requesting something be done. Theo pulled me aside with another manager named Zach who I had no problem with and began to talk to me about giving me sessions back. At this time I had been cheated out of at least 10 sessions. Theo blamed it on how bad his employees were and said that if he had good employees this would never happen. They promised to make it right and sent me away. Their corporate office got in touch with me and we talked. They then transfered me to the operations manager Andrew. Andrew called me a liar and said I didn't know what I was talking about after I explained the situation to him and said I needed to give a new trainer a shot. When asking how I could stop personal training there Andrew told me I needed to pay half of the remaining balance which would be 900 dollars due to the contract I had signed with them. He told me to take some time to consider it and I did. I came into my first session with Tyler who was another incredibly nice guy. During my session Theo approached me and began to harass me saying that I should be happy because they gave me two free sessions and asking what I expected. He then inappropriately began to question me about my letter to corporate saying that it's not his fault that's just how he is. When I told him straight up that every trainer I've had quit because of him he called me a liar. When I said they told me he said the next one who talks about him he was going to fire. DO YOUR SELF A FAVOR. STAY AWAY FROM THE HARASSMENT AND THE POLITICS AND DRAMA OF LA FITNESS. THEY WILL STEAL YOUR MONEY. YOU CAN'T GET HEALTHY IN AN UNHEALTHY...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI have been going to this particular LA Fitness for years. The cleanliness has come and gone over the years but it has gotten unbearable.
About three years ago it seemed to be very clean and very friendly as far as the staff went. Then bout a year ago things went downhill and went downhill fast.
There is no female that cleans the womens locker room/bathroom/shower's during the day. They have a very nice man that does the mens, but they don't seem to bother with the women.
There is always hair balls that some women wipe on the walls of the showers or fling on to the floor so you have to be careful what you touch or where you walk so you don't get your toes wrapped in someone else's hair. It's disgusting. It is always like that. Paper towels are all over the floor. I can see dirt piles under the walking mats they put out for us to walk on. Where the women blow dry their hair is always packed with hair on the floor in the locker room so walking through that is another disgusting obstacle.
Three weeks ago some woman took a stool (poop) on the floor of the womens bathroom floor, stepped in it and tracked it all over. Other women were stepping in it and tracking it everywhere, in their barefeet too because it is on the way to the showers. She had another "accident" in the sauna too. I pointed it out to the other women in there and several of us took it upon ourselves to cover the larger chucks of feces with paper towels. I ran out and told the manager guy. He just stared at me like a deer in the head lights. I continued to get my workout in and two hours later went into the locker room/bathroom and it was still there. Feces everywhere. It had been tracked around the entire gym by then for almost two hours. I saw one of the female personal trainers ( I guess that's what she is, she sits up front and laughs with all the guys) go in there and run out exclaiming how gross it was in there. But no one seemed to think it was important enough to close the womens locker room down and have that poor guy janitor go in there and clean it.
They have sewer flies. Which are nasty little flies that look like miniature moths. They are always flying around the showers and are all over the shower walls when you shower. The hot tub has maggots all around it crawling around. Little worms. I assume these are the maggots of those flies.
Yesterday I found a bloody maxipad in one of the showers. The next day I found a dirty pair of underwear in another. I still see the same dirt piles in the same place week after week.
It is so disgusting in there, I am upset because I pay my monthly fee for several things, and one of those things it to keep things clean.
I have complained about the horrific conditions of the womens locker room/bathroom/shower and they say they are so sorry and they will make sure to take care of it. But when I go in the next day the same dirtiness is still there. They did manage to get the bloody maxipad and dirty underwear out of there, but I see the same dirt piles and hair balls in the exact same place day after day.
I don't understand what all ten of those kids are doing up at the front? Why don't they take time out of their gossip session to go do a quick clean through about once an hour.
I have half a mind to turn them in to the quality assurance commission. Or the Department of Public Health.

Ā Ā Ā Read moreDue to COVID Iāve invested in my own gym equipment and decided to cancel the LA Fitness membership, at least temporarily until things return to more normal. Alas, their cancellation process left me with a permanent bad experience with LA Fitness.
Around Oct 2020 I mailed in my request to cancel my gym membership and I have a family account. I was told by the front desk person over the phone at the time I could mail in the cancellation request using a form on their website if I choose not to stop by the gym in-person. Also, there will be a final month charge in Nov. I thought, okay thatās fair. Dec came around I noticed they stopped charging which was confirmation to me the account has been cancelled. But, Jan 2021 was when things started to go off road. There were unusual charges, small amounts like 4.40 and 5.49 in addition to the normal monthly dues which had been halved by this time because of COVID. So, I disputed the charges with my CC company on the Feb charges. All of a sudden I started getting calls from their call center stating I have not pay my monthly dues. Also, my cancellation was only on my primary account but not the family account and the rep insisted I pay for the family account. So I did and requested them to cancel the family account as well.
Things were quiet for a month but in Apr I started getting calls again from their call center. This time I was told that my membership is active and that I owed them payments for Mar and Apr. By this time their reputation to handle cancellation as a backend corporate process is about zero in opinion. So I stopped by the landing location and to my surprise was told by Mara the newly minted operations manager (just started Mon of last week) that my primary account is opened but the family account was closed. She claimed this was a miscommunication between myself and the rep from call center. We went back and forth on the charges but she could not explain why there is a balance due on the account. Nonetheless she closed the primary account as Iāve requested and told me to just ignore the balance. When I asked who can I talk to that can explain this, she said her supervisor which was out on a break. Mind you Iāve waited half an hour earlier for Mara to return from her break and Iām not about to wait for another hour for her supervisor. So I decided to follow up another day which she promised to call me back the next morning.
The next day I waited and the morning went by but no call from Mara. I called her back and to my surprise she claimed to not recall our conversation yesterday. But when I pressed her on her promise to consult with her supervisor, she then said her supervisor insisted the balance has to be paid. I was not about to have this game played on me and so I went again to the gym. This time David the district manager was there. We went back and forth again on all the charges dated since Jan 2021 for both my primary and family accounts. In the end, he explained the balance was an annual fee and Mar due and he would waive the Apr amount. So, I paid and got a zero balance cancellation email. I walked away thinking this is the sort of company I will never do...
