On May 30th, I dropped off my Glock 19 (Gen 5) slide for an RMR/Cerakote mill at this local shop. I was told the slide would be complete in two to four weeks. After almost four weeks, I called the company to check on the order, only to be told the gentleman who mills the slide had just stopped by the shop a couple of days before to retrieve the order. A week later (July 5th), I received a text that it was ready for pickup. The slide I received from Tactical Penguin is shown in the pictures I have attached. I am beyond disappointed with the milling they completed on my slide. The shop milled too far forward, which exposed the safety plunger and its spring. Without getting into too much detail, the exposed safety plunger renders the slide useless, and I cannot put an RMR on top without making modifications to the safety feature of the Glock. When I initially brought this to their attention, they mentioned that this was normal and would not cause problems; however, upon the gunsmith handling the firearm, he knew that this was not true. What followed was utter nonsense and seemingly an attempt by this local company to save face. They shaved the safety plunger and did “function checks” in an effort to gaslight me into thinking this was good enough. A little research shows that this is not how a mill should have gone, and a safety modification should not be done following a mill, especially for a pistol I intended to use as a defense weapon. I have repeatedly requested the owner to contact me, so we may try to remedy this situation, as they claim to be the “best” at everything they do, per their website. I have yet to receive any word from the owner himself, which is not what I would expect from a small business. I believed I would receive impeccable service from this company given their high review rating and their website's mission/goal statement, but this was not my case. In conclusion, I would save yourself the trouble and go to a reputable shop for slide milling. Do not receive milling from this shop, let alone smithing work. Tactical Penguin’s customer service is lacking, particularly from...

On 1/7/21 I went in looking for an Aero M4E1 Upper. They didn’t have any in the store but had an order in; they just hadn’t shipped yet. They said I could buy one and then when they came in, they would call me to come pick it up. So I purchased it along with some other supplies totaling over $850, which I could have gotten online for less money but I like to support local businesses.
On 1/25/21 I had not heard from anyone so I called, got their voicemail and left a message asking if there was any update on when the Upper I paid for would be shipped.
On 1/26/21 I received a call from someone at the store (forgot his name). He told me their order of (12) M4E1’s came in the week before and they did not set one aside for me and sold all of them in 2 days, even selling 5 to one guy. So even though I paid for mine 3 weeks earlier, I was out of luck as a new customer walks away with 5 of them.
The only thing he said he could do was apologize and I could either wait for the next shipment (he had no idea when that would be) or he could offer me a refund. Since they did not deliver on their previous promise and had lost my trust, I opted for the refund.
He said he would be in close contact with me in the next day or two to make sure I got my refund and that he was going to talk to Shawn and see if there is anything else they could do for me.
It’s now 2/4/21, over a week later I haven’t heard from him or anyone else and I still have not received a refund.
Although I was planning on spending probably a few thousand more dollars with them over the next couple months, needless to say, I’ll be shopping elsewhere.
I highly recommend you spend your money...
Read moreI am leaving this review 1 month after picking up my cerakoted pistol. I supplied a picture for reference for a "Deep Six" color scheme. The pistol was in the shop for 5 months and painted 3 different times. Adison sent pictures after the first coating attempt. I told him it was not even close. After the second coating attempt, I was told it was ready. I went to pick up the pistol, and upon viewing the work, I advised Adison that his color was not close to what I asked for. He was clearly frustrated, but he insisted on trying again. About a month later, I called for an update and was told it was ready. The third attempt was still not the colors as shown in the sample picture. It looks like the colors were applied in the wrong order. Again, I told Adison the paint color was not close to what I asked for. I questioned why I should pay full price when the colors were not close to the sample provided. I told him he should have stripped the coating off. So, now I get to pay someone else to remove his work . I got the impression that Adison is not an artist. He can apply basic coatings but has no knowledge of mixing colors. His level of frustration just shows his lack of skill and professionalism. I will not return for any services. I will also not recommend this business for cerakote work. Pictures are attached: a sample of what I asked for, the first attempt, and the...
