Rite Aid — Local services in Rolling Hills Estates

I wonder what the deal is with the self checkout counters at this location. There are 3 of them. 2 of them were red and the one that was green was turned away from the customers so that we could not use it. There were 6-7 people in line to checkout and when I asked the cashier why the self checkouts are not in service, she said yeah, they interfere with their systems and there is paper jam etc. She asked me if I missed them and was laughing. About 3-4 weeks ago, at this exact same location, some of the cashiers were getting upset when myself and another lady were using self checkout. One guy in particular, I choose not to share his name here, was furious and was complaining to the other customers loudly that when we use self checkout, their jobs are at risk. If they do not want us to use the self checkout, they should remove the devices. If you have them in the store, do not sabotage them and make them “unavailable”. These types of behavior contribute to extremely poor customer service. Would I rather detour and go to CVS from now onwards. Absolutely! I am sure the staff here will not miss not having a handful of customers. Will I bring it to the attention of Rite Aid Corporation?...

Its an ok stocked local. Its self check out craps out on the reg and their cashier clerks are slow as molasses. 3 customers and an Icecream order and you will be there for 20 min. It seems like they are in competition with CVS in the 'we only exist because we have a full service pharmacy for the dying boomers in PV'. In the can this location get any worse category: a year later the refrigerators crapped out for 2 days one week. In the middle of summer their air conditioning bit the dust for more than 2 months! It was hard to stay inside the location for more than 5 min. I'm sure the employees loved it. To top it off the posted hours are not honored. This location is regularly shuttered by 9:40pm on a weekday. The posted sign clealy says 10pm. Asside from the pharmacy its suppoosed to be a 'convenience store'. I don't know what niche this place fills anymore. The Pavillions has 99 percent of the sundries you find here and they always stay open until 11pm. The self checkout\registers improved and the employees are a little more responsive but I don't know if thats enough to...

Well... often it's tough differentiating between the local drug stores in the area. Let's be honest....they're all cut out the same, and generally, have the same characters working behind the pharmacy and the registers. However, I've personally had a situation where a quintessential "small town situation" helped me out on a bad night where my car broke down. And this was also at 4:30 in the morning..... Two employees at this location went out of their way to help us, not even knowing our names.....only knowing us by our nightly shopping behavior at the store. They literally saved our rear-end, and it felt so uncharacteristic of Los Angeles that We felt obligated to immediately take the time to write this review to show our appreciation, and recommend some serious accolades both employees deserve from management.
