The Ossuary — Local services in Salem

I first went to the ossuary in October and absolutely fell in love with this store. First they are extremely clean well organized and the variety of sizes are chefs kiss. However upon my first visit the true show stopper was when one of the ladies working there I forgot her name and wish I could remember to acknowledge her properly took the time to crown my sweet and spicy 7 yr old. My daughter picked the crown being extremely decisive and was so excited to even get it but when this woman stepped out from behind the counter and very formally declared my daughter a princess of darkness and placed the crown on her head it was priceless and made the moment so sincere and beautiful. On our second trip I was actually exchanging a corset because the one I had picked did not fit. I am a plus size lady so this was a bit of a tender spot for me. With all the respect imaginable this woman once again stepped out from behind the counter, took my measurements and helped me pick the size that was appropriate. She did not stop there tho she helped me try it on AND taught me and my husband how to properly lace it how to tighten it and gave me all of the information I needed to take care of it. This moment could have made me flee in shame and self loathing but when I looked in the mirror I felt beautiful and validated and like I finally had a beautiful piece of clothing that reflected my style as well as made me feel confident in my own skin. Stopped in during a long weekend trip. I was helped by Cat who was incredibly kind and very patient answering my questions and helping me find the styles I was looking for. I was looking to purchase my first real corset and was initially embarrassed to ask where to start but Cat helped me to feel more comfortable by giving me a great explanation on corset sizing and styles. She also showed me how to do the lacing the correct way so that I'd have the right fit and not have any difficulties moving or breathing. I was also able to find a couple other items that I was very happy with. Overall both the service and quality of products was fantastic, it was a great shopping experience that I highly recommend for anyone interested in alt fashion. My husband, and I stumbled upon the Ossuary while doing a workshop at the witchery. We had seen an ad for it at Die With Your Boots On. It is beautifully designed, and we had the opportunity to talk to the owner who explained that it was inspired by the catacombs she had visited on her travels. I picked up a gorgeous baba yaga print, a copy of Heavenly Bodies by Paul Koudaounaris, and a beautiful chilling adventures of sabrina pin set. Plus, there were some very beautiful taxidermy displays for sale. If your tastes are toward the darker side...
