Every time I come to this location the service is incredibly slow, but today was exceptionally bad. It took over a half hour to get our food (there were three of us), and I asked the server right when he brought our food to bring boxes and checks when he had a moment, as we had to get back to work. It took several minutes (probably around 10-15), to bring checks and boxes, then forever to come back to get our money to cash us out. Two of us paid in cash and one with card. After 15 minutes the server, Ryan, still hadn't come back with our change so I asked a guy at the bar - he said the server was getting our change and just going to greet another table and head over, but the server went to 2 or 3 tables before coming back. When he did he threw down my friend's card slip to sign with no pen, and the two of us that paid cash he gave back the wrong change. I stopped & told him my change was short and he rolled his eyes and walked away to another table near us and got their order. When he turned around I told him again that my change was wrong and also that we needed a pen for my friend to sign his credit card receipt - he gave a pen and walked away and never came back with the change. I stopped Ari, the manager, and told her that the server had shorted me and after asking him twice he still wouldn't give me my change either and she briefly apologized and hurriedly got my change for me. I tried to talk to her about the service being extremely bad on this visit and she seemed to be in too big of a hurry to care and gave a quick "sorry" and just walked away. Many of my colleagues come here for lunches or breaks but the service has gotten ridiculous. After today's visit I think we will not be visiting again. Looking forward to the new places coming in the Gateway because Bout Time is awful. The joke is that it's "Bout time" when you finally get your food there but it's actually pretty true..... Also, you'd think for the huge wait times the food would be awesome but it's pretty often mediocre at best. Tonight it was far below their average "eh" food quality.
**EDIT: the reply from the restaurant is a lie. Nobody told us there was a wait for food due to an event - I'm certain of that because nobody even greeted us. And the manager definitely did not offer any solution because she only rushed to get the correct change for me and walked away with NO COMMENTS whatsoever when I tried to tell her the service was so bad. This is infuriating that Bout Time is just trying to save face by publicly replying with a lie about the experience. Just another way to seal the deal and ensure no returning...
Read moreNever in my life did I think I would be so discriminated against and profiled by an establishment like this. I came here with a couple female friends on New Years Eve (while waiting for the rest of our group) we were kicked out by what I am assuming was the shift manager FOR NO REASON. We had just sat down and within 10 minutes of us telling our server we needed a minute to figure out what we wanted to drink, a different person who was not our server came up to our table and rudely told us we had to leave. I have been a paying customer for years, I have never disrespected this facility nor any server or bartender here to be treated like this. When I asked why he said because a server was intimidated by us. And I quote “I don’t know the situation but you have to leave” I hadn’t had a single drink or said a single word to anybody here aside from telling my server “we’ll take a sec to look at the menu, thank you.” Mind you I am not familiar with nor do I know any of the staff here personally. I was disrespected, humiliated and called out my name by the manager who told us to leave. We didn’t argue, we calmly left even tho we were all very confused on why we were being kicked out. I called the following day to speak to a general manager in hopes to right this wrong and was told I would be contacted by them and never received any call or message. I would not recommend any young colored male or female to come here as you may also be discriminated against and kicked out for no apparent reason! There is a new bar right up the street called The Break that gave our whole group the best service we could ask for on new years, and don’t seem to be prejudice whatsoever! *under new ownership we faced the same issue. Still don’t know anybody who works here and had to deal with the same young lady who I’ve never met in my life pointing at us asking us to be kicked out. I hope management takes this matter serious as peronsal bias should have no place in any business...
Read moreI frequently visit this bar, but my two recent experiences have been disappointing. On one occasion, I was holding a vape and the bartender, Ellen, practically yelled at me, "You can't have that." I understood the rule , and put it away. However, during a visit to watch the Grammy Awards with my husband, two women were excessively loud and disruptive, even climbing over the bar at one point. They were honestly talking down to the bartenders , yelling at one of them to “turn the music down”, in a demeaning tone, while the bartender was already doing so. Despite this, Ellen chose not to intervene, which I could tell was confusing and frustrating for everyone present.
The situation escalated when the women tipped Ellen generously, only for one of them to insist rudely that she accept the tip because “customers are always right”, after Ellen initially returned part of it. Then one of the woman crumpled up the money and threw it at her… I’ve never seen anything like it. Ellen then proceeded to smile and wrote "I'm sorry" on their receipt? Seemed inappropriate given the circumstances. Not to mention, she neglected other customers, including us, focusing solely on these disruptive weirdos for the entire hour.
In contrast, the other bartender, Justin, was professional and expressed his frustration with the situation, noting he anticipated trouble once the women arrived. Ellen's response that they were obnoxious but that “she made good money off them” was disheartening. Considering I was yelled at for a vape previously, but these customers got away with seemingly treating these bartenders like animals was beyond confusing. This experience has made me realize I do not intend to ever come back to this bar, as sad as that is because I did...
