The coffee isn't great and isn't worth the cost and i def won't be going back especially after the response i got on Yelp by the owner. I'm in awe
Instead of bullying people for their honest review clean the machines and make sure the baristas can make good coffees with out unhappy customers
I'm not the only unhappy customer Owner responded very rudely his words "their not mind readers at this coffee shop if i wasn't happy i should have had them remake it and that it looks like i was able to get it down based on my photo - even tho it tasted like dirt "
It wasn't the flavoring of the add ons it was the espresso maker itself
I'm a new mom very tired so i drank the coffee even though i wasn't happy with the taste, i needed it for the caffeine not just taste. But i was sad about the taste because i obviously wish i could have enjoyed what i was drinking.. taking care of a new born and also spending 7 or 8 dollars on a coffee (can't remember the exact amount but something around that amount) your not just going to throw it away ..... also the place was going to close soon and my son is 8 weeks old I'm not going to sit in a coffee shop to make sure it's perfect before leaving
As an owner of a business spending time writing a paying customer back, rudely, shows poor ownership and care for how a customer feels about their experience at their coffee shop! Even more of a reason to leave a bad review
Feels like a bully of an owner, so terrible I'm in shock
I'm writing the review based on my experience and the fact the coffee tasted like dirt and didn't taste worth 7 or 8 dollars!
I have nothing to gain lying about how i felt about the coffee. To be told i had no issue drinking my coffee that i paid for and spoke to this was is gross.
This owners response is a joke and a poor way to handle a bad review as a business owner instead of valuing a real review - and taking this as a way to improve instead of harassing me for leaving my honest opinion on the coffee taste.
A good owner would not harass an unhappy customer.
Expecting me to sit there when this is a busy downtown San Diego location is wild. I bought the coffee and had to go .... Then left a review as a normal person does. Even if i had them remake it it was the taste of the espresso based on the machine It would have tasted the same
It was not the syrup - clean your...

If you’re looking for a da*n good breakfast sandwich, bagel or spread you HAVE to stop here. Not only are their bagels absolutely delicious but they have THE best spreads. My favorite spreads for my bagels are the maple butter (TO DIE FOR) and the agave and vanilla cream cheese (10/10). I love their plain bagel, sesame and French toast.
My go-to breakfast sandwich is “The McLovin’”, it is on a bagel of your choosing (go for the sesame) egg, cheese, sausage and maple butter 🤩. All the important food groups on a sandwich. If you’re an avocado lover, they have the “Millennial” which is LOADED with cado. My friend orders that one every time and they never skip on the avocado.
Not only do they have good food, but their coffees are awesome. The baristas really know what they are doing behind the bar and they have a ton of different concoctions. If you’re a plain old black coffee kinda person (weirdo) you’ll still be able to find that here. However, if you’re like me and love to try different lattes and flavors you have to try their “La Vida Mocha” (dark chocolate and coffee? Sign me TF up!). Their caramel latte which is called the “Basic Sitch” isn’t too sweet but has enough sweetness that even my boyfriend enjoys ordering it and he typically only drinks black coffee.
If you’re picky about your milks, they offer non-fat, whole milk, soy, almond, oat and macadamia. You can add flavors to your coffee and extra shots.
If you read through all that or are just looking for the tl;dr here it is: Try this place out if you like good bagels and enjoy good coffee. You won’t be disappointed. The customer service is awesome and you can’t beat the prices! You can order ahead with either Postmates, DoorDash, or Uber East or just be a cool kid and order at the cafe.
during COVID times, you need to wear a mask to go inside and order and you can only dine outside of the restaurant or to-go. They do have plexiglass in between customers and workers when you order and have hand sanitizer stations all over (thx for doing this). Their hours may differ right now so call them or check out their website for the new hours. Be respectful of their rules and don’t give them any sht.
**they are also working on a new cafe by seaport village. I cannot wait for that location to open and grab coffee while on my walks...
Read moreThe Lox bagel sandwich tasted great. The bagel itself didn't compare to some of the best NY bagels, which I acknowledge IS a very high bar, but it was still very good, and the sandwich was packed with ingredients. I only had the chagachino (which is hard to go wrong) for my drink, so I do not have enough data to evaluate their coffee or classic espresso drinks. As far as the chagachino goes, it was a delight. I could actually taste the chaga, which I don't find to be the case at most other places that serve chagachinos.
On service and ambience, if you're looking for a place to have a quiet and relaxing breakfast, or if you're a stickler about sipping your hot drinks out of a mug, I'd recommend other cafés nearby (there are tons that serve breakfast in the area). The chairs are not for sitting for longer than 30 minutes. Also, they asked if I were getting my food and drink for here or to go, so I said for here and asked my drink to be served in a mug but they were only using to-go cups at the time. Also, I received my bagel sandwich in a sandwich bag instead of on a (paper) plate like everyone else who was eating there. I wondered why they would ask if I'm eating there if it wouldn't change the way they would...
