Wow what a shame. I love Hot 8 Yoga in LA but this was the worst experience Ive had in my 15+ years of doing yoga which i never expected from hot 8
I arrive and immediately the woman at the front desk is trying to push a $300 package on me since she saw that i only purchased the one class. I get if you come somewhat frequently but ive come to this location one other time 8 months ago. Not a big deal but not the right energy and she was so obvious about only wanting $$
Then during the ‘Power’ class i sign up for we do about 8 minutes of standing balancing poses - barely anything ‘power’ about it. After that we immediately go into stretching for the rest of class. Bc im in the back of the room i decided to do a few poses that would build heat in my body- not just bc i signed up for a power class but bc my body cannot go into stretches without warming it up. Thats why vinyasa is structured the way it is. Its done for a reason - build heat, balance, stretching/winding down. Im too stiff and ive thrown my back out before doing deep stretches w/o any warm up. The instructor comes over in a very annoyed manner and i tell her i need to warm my body up. She then comes over again it an annoyed manner and says were doing ‘hamstrings’ this class- 1) if you are, clarify it on website or before. 2) no we obviously were not - weve been stretching the whole time aside from standing. She obviously doesnt even understand what poses in yoga focus on hamstrings. I was trying to diminish the distraction by being amenable and not telling her class is not even ‘power’. Its so unprofessional for a yoga teacher to draw the classes attention to someone that is trying to make the most out of a $40/class
I decide to leave 10 minutes early as im clearly uncomfortable. I go outside and ask the ladies if that was a power class or stretching? They say the latter and i say how odd the majority of it was stretching. Total silence. No attempt to clarify. Someone who just tried to sell me a $300 package of classes cant offer any clarification.
I ask as im coming out of locker room is that what all the power classes are as majority of it was stretching since i genuinely love hot 8 yoga but want to know what classes will best serve me. The same lady goes ‘Yeah we heard you the first time’. What the hell? I just spent $40 on a yoga class i didnt want to do, was scolded for doing poses that in any other studio would considered for a ‘power’ class and you cant give me any clarification?
Im honestly so disappointed with this studio. I loved hot 8 in LA but have never had an experience like this ever in yoga....
Read moreA great addition to the neighborhood! I joined when they opened and have been pleased with the experience so far. The classes are VERY hot, but the instructors are all very kind and knowledgeable and are helpful in letting you know it takes a few classes to get used to the heat.
I like the hot power fusion the best so far - a nice blend of traditional yoga poses but without the constant chaturangas that would be really tough (for me at least) in the hot room. I find it challenging, but doable, and that’s all you can ask for in a steady workout.
The studio itself is very clean, and quite beautiful. The floors in the studio rooms are a breathable material that doesn’t get weird like some studios with carpet. Bathroom and shower spaces are sparkling. And the ice cold eucalyptus towels are the cherry on top. Happy so far and...
Read moreI came here for the sculpt workout, which was so intense. This was my first hot yoga class, although I had taken a hot pilates class before. The workout flowed at a good pace, and I pushed hard but didn’t overexert myself, so I was able to get through the workout, which felt super satisfying.
The facilities are new, contemporary, and spacious, so everything feels pretty clean, and one can get around without really getting in the way of others. I like the onsite showers and bathroom amenities, which include everything you need pre- and post-workout.
All the staff here were quite friendly, and I was given a quick tour before class since it was my first time. Overall I had a great experience, and I highly recommend booking a...
